Abstract

Ofiolite and metamorphic the oldest rock which found in Obi Island in pre-tertiery age. Contact of both rock estimated as structural contact. Ofiolite consist of peridotite, piroxenite, gabro, basalt, and metabasalt. As for metamorph are schist-mica and phylite. Those rocks especially found in the west side of Obi Island and the minor part found in the outcrops of the south.Peridotite in research area is source rocks which affected by hydrothermal fluids which occur in the end of magmatism processes and change peridotite into serphentinite (peridotite-serphentinite) and this processes known as the beginning of nickel laterite deposit formation process.Mechanical and chemical weathering to the provenance which contain Ca, Mg, Fe, Na, Si, Cr, Mn, Ni, Co, causes this integration and decomposition where those material soluble and then deposited again as somekind of mineraqlsw

Abstract

Recognissances was carried out in blocks of coal PT. Teunom Resources, which all belong to Meulaboh area, West Aceh Regency, the Province of Nangrroe Aceh Darussalam. The area of Meulaboh geologically belong to Plio-Pliestocene age Tutut Formation in land and maish environment deposition. The litology consist of conglomerate, sandstone, claystone and lignite. The basin of this Formation deposition is well known as “ Meulaboh Embayment “.The compiled reference some previous exploration result on the thickness of coal seams in Meulaboh ranging some centimeters to 8 (eight) meters and morever the calorivic value ranging 3900 – 5100 cal/gr. The result of recognissance in the surveyed area appears that the observed coal seams occurs as intercalation and lenses of some centimeter to 80 centimeters of thickness where the strike of layer trending northwest – southeast and dipping ranging 4º - 5º. Among the above mentioned block, the number of seam outcrops occur much more in block PT. Teunom Resources. The reserve restricted to the 3 layers of 80 centimeters dippingt less 5º is roughly estimated 2.633.133 tons. The quality of coal as analyzed by the Directorate of Minerals Resources in Bandung appears as follow: Total Sulphur 0.19% - 0.35% adb; Ash 4.33% - 7.39% adb; Fix Carbon 33.00% - 39.27% adb; Volatile Matter 47.01% - 54.17% adb; Moisture 8.19% - 8.97% adb; Total Moisture 43.22% - 47.23% ar; and Free Moisture 38.15% - 42.03% ar.

Abstract

Nickel occurs in bedrock of ultramafic spread surrounding Jayapura to the west along the northeren beach of Papua, Occurs in layers of soil called Limonit and Saprolit where both are weathered of ultramafic bedrocks includes Peridotit, Harsburgit, Serpentinit, Dunit and Lerzolit. The geology of Jayapura including distribution of ultramafic and metamorphic rocks of Pra-Tersier age was uplifted to the land since the tectonic of Early Miocene to the present was subjected to some active tectonic characterized by steep and sharp morphology. From the result of previous investigations indicates that nickel grade are excellent and being prospective for industrial word especially in China. The highest obtained nickel grade reached 6 %.Fild investigation show the occurrence of DMP (Associated Minerals) in nickel area e.g. Iron (Fe), Cobalt (Co) and Chrom (Cr).

Abstract

Karst can be defined as a peculiar and dry landscape developed as a result of dominantly dissolutional erosion of limestone by rain origin water which enter into the limestone and circulate in the underground drainage then resurgent to the surface as springs. The term karst is derived from the Yugoslavian language “kras” meaning “stone”, and has a root of Italian place Carso. This term is applied to a relative narrow strip of limestone extending along the northeastern coast of the Adriatic Sea.The composition of rocks in the investigated area consists of bioclastic Miocene aged limestone of the Kelapanunggal Formation overlying alternating claystone and sandstone belonging to the Cibulakan Formation of the same age.The Karst developed in investigation areas : 1. Dolines and 2. Kockpit Doline, 3. Swallow Holes, 4.Collapse Cave, 5. Singking Stream and 6. Uvala.

Abstract

The morphology of investigated area is a flat area and hilly area at elevation reaching 20 meters above the sea level. The lateritic nickel is a residual soil from weathering, resulting from serpentinite, hasburgite and dunite being ultramafic complex according to the geologic map of Batui sheets, Celebes. The extent of investigation is 8000 hectare as the permit from the regency of Banggai, and the thichness of nickel bearing lateritic soil averaging 2 meters, and therefore is roughly estimated 160.000.000 cubic meters. If the specivic gravity of lateritic soil is 2.6 and nickel content average 0.8 %, the reserve of lateritic nickel is will be 160,000,000 M³x 2.6 x 0.8% = 3,328,000 Tons. It is suggested to be mined by open pit method because the lateritic soil on the surface with only averaging thichness of soil 2 meters.
