Abstract

Schoutenia ovata Korth. has a shrub or tree habit and is able to grow up to a height of 25 meters. Humans often use this plant as medicine, one of which is found on the stems. However, no one has researched the good phytochemical content of this plant stem. This is evident in the PubChem data, which indicates that there is no phytochemical profile available for this plant. Therefore, this study aims to determine the phytochemical content and pharmacological activity of Schoutenia ovata Korth. stems. The sample in this study is a stem taken from the hills of Tulungagung, East Java, Indonesia. The sample is then dried and made into a coarse powder. The content of chemical elements is analyzed using an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. Furthermore, phytochemical tests are conducted to identify the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, tannins, saponins, and phenols using the LC-MS/MS QTOF method. Pharmacological activities are investigated through a literature study. The Schoutenia ovata Korth. stems contain chemical elements O (48.6%), C (47%), K (2.9%), Ca (0.6%), Al (0.2%), Si (0.2%), P (0.2%), Cl (0.2%), Mg (0.1%). The results of phytochemical tests show that the stem contains alkaloids, flavonoids, and steroids. Based on the content of phytochemical compounds, the stems of Schoutenia ovata Korth. exhibits pharmacological activities, including antidiabetic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, anticancer, and wound-healing properties.

Abstract

Core Competencies and Basic Competencies at SMP/MTs are essential curriculum components that determine learning outcomes, especially in science subjects whose contents refer to several practical activities. Practicum activities are a form of learning carried out in a specific place where students play an active role in solving problems through specific tools, materials and methods. This activity can be carried out at school in a science laboratory because it is supported by various adequate laboratory equipment and materials. There are various problems related to the implementation of science practicum, especially in several MTs in the Rejotangan Tulungagung District area. Some of the problems include the absence of laboratory space, practicum tools and materials, practicum manuals, practicum time that is too short, laboratory personnel and laboratory documents, and the competence of educators who are not suitable for science subjects. The solution to the problem is holding simple science practicum training for teachers, laboratory management training, and maximizing cooperative relations with universities.

Abstract

The low level of understanding of biology students on plant morphology material, especially Orchidaceae, requires the development of learning resources. This study aims to develop an encyclopedia "Identification of Orchidaceae Morphology" and test its feasibility. Research and development was carried out in 2 stages, namely identification of the morphology of Orchidaceae and development of an encyclopedia using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation). The results of the study, the eleven identified orchid plants had similarities in the flower parts included in the flower tent because they could not be distinguished between the petals and the corolla. An encyclopedia book containing taxonomy of orchid plants, scientific names, identification descriptions of orchid plants along with pictures. The results of the percentage score of material experts was 77.17%, media experts were 88%, and lecturers of Plant Anatomy and Morphology were 83.65%. The results of student implementation obtained an average percentage score of 85.34%. The developed encyclopedia has a decent quality to be used as a learning resource.

Abstract

Program Mu‘askar al-Lughah bertujuan untuk menciptakan bi’ah lughawiyah dan budaya berbahasa pada para mahasiswa agar keterampilan berbicara meningkat. Di jenjang perguruan tinggi, para mahasiswa memiliki hambatan utama yaitu penguasaan kosakata serta  motivasi untuk berbicara dalam bahasa Arab, serta minimnya lingkungan bahasa yang mendukung praktik komunikasi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research/PAR, yang melibatkan berbagai ahli dalam bahasa Arab dan civitas akademika dalam upaya mendukung penguasaan berbicara dalam bahasa Arab bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Arab di STAI Diponegoro Tulungagung. Proses pelaksanaannya melibatkan pembelajaran berbasis praktik, diskusi kelompok, dan interaksi langsung dengan para fasilitator, sehingga menciptakan lingkungan berbahasa yang kondusif. Hasil kegaitan ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) Analisis situasi awal mahasiswa menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berbicara bahasa Arab para mahasiswa tergolong rendah, meskipun memiliki motivasi tinggi untuk belajar berbahasa Arab. (2) Strategi program Mu‘askar al-Lughah diimplementasikan berdasar pada hasil analisis situasi dan menunjukkan bahwa program tersebut efektif dalam menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang komunikatif dan kontekstual. (3) Hasil program Mu‘askar al-Lughah ini adalah adanya peningkatan dalam kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa, baik dari aspek linguistik, afektif, maupun sosial. Dampak keberlanjutan program ini yakni terciptanya kelompok bahasa di program studi tersebut dengan para mahasiswa sebagai pengurus dan anggotanya.
