Abstract

Cooking is a routine in the household to fulfill basic human needs. This study examines the development and changes in cooking activities in Sundanese society, characterized using tools, the cooking process, the efficiency of cooking procedures, and the values adopted in cooking activities. The approach used in this study is an ethnographic design approach and participatory observation. The purpose of this study is to observe changes in rice cooking activities and their transformation in terms of cooking utensils design, cooking process, and cooking habits, as well as their effect on changes in rice cooking design and activities with a case study of traditional houses in Sundanese people. The habits and development of traditional rice cooking utensils and traditional cooking habits and their significant changes in semi-modern and modern products in traditional Sundanese houses in Kampung Naga, Tasikmalaya, West Java were observed in a participatory manner. The findings of changes and developments in culture, habits, processes, and designs on rice cookware products are used as a basis for market segmentation for rice cookware products which are divided into two main market segments which can later be used for the needs of the target users to design products with cultural values, product efficiency, and the value of the product to the user. The two main segments are the home and business segments, which are divided into more specific segments. Specific segments for the home segment are ordinary and extraordinary households. In contrast, the business segment is divided into accommodation providers, food and drink service providers, and other service sectors.

Abstract

Humans are living beings who have a social spirit and depend on their surroundings, including the natural environment, which has a reciprocal relationship to the ecosystem of life. Natural damage is a characteristic of disruption of an environment caused by various irresponsible activities that have an impact on all things that can harm various parties. The emergence of forest fires, waste smoke from industrialization activities, carbon fumes from vehicles have become quite serious problems for the environment and health so that they become an urgency that must be resolved, especially the increasingly emergency condition of the earth due to global warming. In this study aims to describe and develop the design of pollution absording plant designs with the vertical garden method considering that it is an anticipatory step to save the environment. The resulting product has a new value offered and a high use value so that it can be used as an innovation to the environment, the use of environmentally friendly and easy materials and systems so that it becomes an advantage of the product. This design process includes various stages, namely problem formulation, data analysis, solution formulation, design development in the from of initial sketches, design development, and final design. It is hoped that the application of this designed product in public places will create a green city concept “Green City” which will change the condition and situation of a healthy and clean city free from pollution.

Abstract

This study was aimed to find the effect of design and material on user behavior and decision making based on image perception with the Visual Analog Scale approach. Cutlery and cooking utensils are almost always owned by households around the world. Spoons have different designs, as in the UK the spoon denotes the culture and habits, eating culture and lifestyle of a particular demographic. Various spoon materials also vary, such as wood, copper, aluminum, zinc, stainless steel, silver to gold. Different treatments that are expressed in the shape, color, style, material, and size of spoons affect the behavior patterns of product users. Small products such as spoons can influence the user's decision-making process. This research uses a quantitative approach to find the effect of design and material on user behavior and decision making based on image perception with the Visual Analog Scale approach. The data in this study were processed using statview software with anova and regression analysis. to see the purchase interest of consumers or users. This study found a correlation between perception and visual taste on product purchase intention influenced by the design and materials used in the product
