Abstract

Mahasiswa yang menempuh studi di perantauan memiliki tantangan ganda: yaitu sukses dalam studi sekaligus sukses dalam beradaptasi dengan lingkungan tempat tinggalnya yang baru yang berbeda budaya, norma, dan nilai-nilai pergaulannya. Penelitian ini berupaya menggali pengalaman mahasiswa perantauan asal Minang di Jakarta dalam beradaptasi secara budaya dengan lingkungan pergaulan dan tempat tinggalnya yang baru di Jakarta. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Informan penelitian dipilih dari mahasiswa rantau asal Minang yang menempuh studi di dua perguruan tinggi yang berbeda secara karakteristik pergaulan sosialnya di Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menemukan tema-tema utama terkait pengalaman gegar budaya, hambatan yang ditemui dalam beradaptasi, strategi adaptasi. Secara umum diperoleh bahwa kedua informan mengalami gegar budaya dalam berbagai bentuk dan tingkatan, serta menempuh strategi adaptasi yang berbeda dalam menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungannya.

Abstract

The utilization of social media by politicians for political campaigns is increasingly common at the present time. Even more so during the pandemic in which the offline interaction between politicians and voters is severely limited. Thus, this research is interested in investigating the utilization of social media by a political candidate (Gibran Rakabuming) during the City Mayoral Election. This research aims to uncover the construct of the political brand displayed by Gibran on Instagram during the City Mayoral Election 2020 in Solo, Central Java. This research employs quantitative content analysis on social media contents posted by Gibran (on his official IG account @gibran_rakabuming) during the period of November 8, 2019 until May 31, 2021. From the total population of 2,031 posts, this research selected 90 posts (using non-probability purposive sampling) as samples. The research found: 1) the two elements of political brand dominantly displayed by Gibran on his Instagram account are integrity and competence. In addition, Gibran also displayed the element of social imagery by which he showcased his image as a young political candidate (or “millennial generation”); 2) the element of political brand consistently displayed by Gibran was professionalism by which he highlighted his image as a successful entrepreneur; 3) Gibran was not sufficiently found to be using his social media account to develop interaction with his followers. The limitation of this research mainly comes from its sample size and sampling technique. This research utilizes non-probability sampling, which limits its external validity. Therefore, the findings of this research cannot be generalized to describe the total population (all social media content posted by Gibran during the election). However, this research provides a useful initial study on the strategy utilized by political candidates in Indonesia (through the use of social media) to win elections amid the limitations imposed by the pandemic. Abstract

Kebocoran data di Pusat Data Nasional dan Statistik (PDNS) merupakan isu serius yang menimbulkan kekhawatiran publik terhadap keamanan informasi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi komunikasi pemerintah dalam menangani krisis kebocoran data menggunakan pendekatan Image Repair Theory (IRT). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis konten terhadap 37 video berita dari kanal YouTube KompasTV, yang mengidentifikasi dan mengkategorikan pernyataan pemerintah dalam 14 sub-strategi IRT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa empat strategi yang paling dominan adalah Corrective Action, Defeasibility, Good Intentions, dan Bolstering. Corrective Action muncul sebagai strategi utama, mencerminkan komitmen pemerintah untuk   memperbaiki situasi. Sementara itu, Defeasibility digunakan untuk mengalihkan tanggung jawab atas insiden kebocoran kepada faktor eksternal. Good Intentions menekankan niat baik pemerintah dalam melindungi data publik, dan Bolstering memperkuat citra positif pemerintah dengan menyoroti keberhasilan sebelumnya. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya penerapan strategi komunikasi yang proaktif dan transparan dalam membangun kepercayaan publik selama krisis. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan yang berharga bagi praktik komunikasi krisis di sektor publik dan membuka peluang untuk penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai pengelolaan komunikasi pemerintah di masa depan.

Abstract

The news release issued by BMKG regarding the 2024 megathrust earthquake has been widely spread in mainstream media and social media. The news only shows the phenomenon of the megathrust earthquake, the narrative has become a polemic in the community. The results of the research found in the BNPB Indonesia Youtube account video with the topic of Preparedness Tips Facing Megathrust Potential using Teun Van Dijk's discourse analysis in the text dimension found microstructure elements that reveal the main problems, namely the megathrust issue and the megathrust information gap in society. Meanwhile, social cognition analysis produces the most dominant scheme, namely the event scheme. In social cognition, there are two discourses that are emphasized, namely that there are still many people on the coast who do not know the threat of megathrust earthquakes and the events of earthquakes and tsunamis that have occurred that have claimed hundreds of lives. The implication of the social context dimension found that the communicator directed the discourse from the megathrust issue to the tsunami phenomenon and identified the characteristics of the tsunami caused by the earthquake contained in the language and discourse in the video.
