The Research was conducted by using an analytic descriptive method that is cross sectional in characteristic. The sample was 17 respondents taken by using an Purposive Sampling. Instruments used in taking sample were pretest-posttest Blood Sugar Observating sheets and the SOP of DM Gymnasic. Data analysis used a statistic test of paired t-test. The result showed that from the paired t-test, it was obtained P=0,002. The average value of Blood Sugar level before performing DM Gymnastic was 145,41. Then, the average value after doing the DM Gymnastic was 129,71. The conclusion of this research that there is an effect of the DM Gymnastic on fasting Bloood Sugar Level in patients with type II DM at the Tuminting Public Health Centre.

Abstract

Sugar levels that accumulate in the blood due to not being absorbed well by body cells can cause various organ disorders. If not controlled properly, it can lead to various complications that can be life-threatening. Risk factors that can affect blood sugar levels are food, activity, and weight gain. Therefore, one way to keep blood sugar levels under control is by doing walking therapy activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of walking on the fasting blood sugar levels when in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Tuminting Village, Manado City. This research is a quantitative research with a method used pre-experimental method using a with a pre-test-post test one group design approach. The sample was taken based on the number of respondents obtained as many as 19 people using Purposive sampling. Data collection was done by using blood glucose test tools and observation sheets. The results of data analysis using the Paired sample t-test showed P value of 0.001 or smaller than ≤0.05 which means that the alternative hypothesis Ha is accepted or through walking activities can reduce the fasting blood sugar levels when in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The conclusion is that the waking activities can reduce blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Tuminting Village, Manado City. It is suggested to people with diabetes mellitus to be able to apply this walking therapy to help control their blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by increased blood glucose sugar levels or referred to as hyperglycemia. The purpose of this study was to find out the correlation between patient knowledge and hyperglycemia prevention behavior in patients with diabetes mellitus in the Mangaran Health Center Working Area. This study used an analytic descriptive method with a cross sectional method approach. The instrument used was a questionnaire, of patient knowledge about hyperglycemia prevention and hyperglycemia prevention behavior, then the data that had been collected was tested using the chi square test. The results of the study include good knowledge and the results of research based on good preventive behavior. Bivariate data data analysis obtained results by using the chi square test. Regarding the independent variable and the dependent variable, the p- value = 0.002 (α ≤ 0,05). The conclusion in this study is that there is a significant correlation between patient knowledge and hyperglycemia prevention behavior in patients with diabetes mellitus. The suggestion in this research is that this research is expected to be a source of information for patients about public knowledge due to hyperglycemia and preventive behavior.

This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The research sample consisted is students, totaling 34 respondents selected using accidental sampling. The research instrument was a knowledge questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the wilcoxon signed Rank Test Results showed that before intervention, most respondents had a low level of knowledge, with 26 respondents (76.5%) categorized as poor. After the intervension, a significant improvement was observed, with all respondents (100%) classified as having good knowledge . The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a P-Value = 0,000 < α 0,05. It can be concluded that video-based education is effective in improving adolescents knowledge regarding splint bandaging.

Data was collected by distributing questionnaires. Furthermore, the data were collected and tested using the chi-square test with a significance level of Asymp.ig.(p-value) = 0.000, where the p-value is smaller than the value of = 0.05. The results of the study where there was good family support with good management of 4 pillars as many as 17 respondents and good family support with poor management of 4 pillars as many as 1 respondent. While for poor family support with good management as many as 1 respondent and poor family support with poor management of 4 pillars as many as 11 respondents. The conclusion in this study is that there is a description of family support for type 2 DM patients in carrying out the 4 pillars of managing DM in the poly room at Bhayangkara Hospital, Manado
