Abstract

Temanggung is known as best quality tobacco producer. The potential production of Temanggung tobacco ranges from 900 to 1200 kg ha-1, but the present tobacco production is still low at 703 kg ha-1. The type of tobacco that is widely cultivated in Temanggung is Kemloko tobacco, which is known as the best local tobacco variety. This study was aimed to explore the relationship of Ca, Mg and Na availability for production and quality of Kemloko Tobacco in Temanggung Regency, Central Java. Soil samples were collected from field at 0-20 cm depth. The chemical analysis results showed that the distribution of Ca availability was low to high (2-20 me 100 g-1), availability of Mg was high to very high (2.1 to> 8 me 100 g-1), availability of Na was low to medium (0.1-0.4 me 100 g-1). The results of correlation analysis were as flows: Ca and production was 0.1520, Ca and quality index was 0.0660, Mg and production was -0.0676, Mg with quality index was (-0.0419), Na and production was -0.2304, Na and quality index was -0.1023. All correlation coefficients were weak. The average yield of moderate tobacco production was 311-609 kg ha-1 with the result of the average quality index entering into the very low class of 20-48.

Abstract

Soil water availability is the basis for plant growth, so its availability is the main key for coffee plants growing in South Malang. Fluctuations in groundwater content, especially in the dynamics of climate change, must be managed so that plant water needs are always met, while remote sensing is able to provide aspects of estimating the condition of soil water content in coffee plantations in South Malang. This research was conducted from July 2019 to October 2019. The water content in coffee plantations can be estimated by combining the vegetation index value and soil surface temperature because coffee plants have shade. The method used in this research is to make a tentative map obtained from the overlay between the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Land Surface Temperature (LST) maps, the data is then regressed with the field results. The selection of research locations is based on the area of the coffee plantation using the smallest pixel, which is in an area of 3 km square meters. Each location of the research location was carried out four times for sampling the soil moisture content. The results showed that the correlation value between water content and the estimation results had a correlation of 0.814, with a regression value of 0.663 and a probability value of 0.9226.

Abstract

Evaluation of soil nutrient fertility is needed to inform the level of nutrient availability in the soil. This evaluation is intended to mitigate land degraded or critical land. So that the area of critical land can be reduced by carrying out land management to maintain soil fertility. This research was conducted on 3 land uses, (i.e. fields, orchad and rice fields) with multiple cropping and monoculture management. The research was carried out with 3 repetitions at 4 slopes (i.e.0-8%, 8-15%, and 16-25%). Soil samples were taken compositely at two depths (i.e.0-20 and 20-30 cm). The parameters analyzed was soil chemical properties (i.e.pH H2O, total N, available of P, K, Organic C, and C/N). The results showed that land use had a significant effect (p<0.05) on availability of organic C, while slope had no significant effect (p>0.05) on soil chemical properties variables. pH H2O was significantly correlated (p < 0.05) with organic C (r = 0.445), available P (r = 0.653), and available K (r = 0.543). Keywords: evaluation of nutrient fertility; multiple cropping; organic C INTISARIEvaluasi status kesuburan hara tanah dibutuhkan sebagai informasi tingkat ketersediaan hara pada tanah. Evaluasi ini dimaksudkan sebagai upaya memitigasi lahan terdegrdasi atau lahan kritis, sehingga luasan lahan kritis dapat berkurang dengan melakukan manajemen pengolahan lahan untuk tetap menjaga kesuburan tanahnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 3 penggunaan lahan, yaitu ladang, kebun, dan sawah dengan pengelolaan multiple cropping dan monokultur. Penelitian dilakukan dengan 3 kali ulangan pada 4 kelerengan 0-8%, 8-15%, dan 16-25%. Pengambilan sampel tanah dilakukan secara komposit pada dua kedalaman yaitu 0-20 dan 20-30 cm. Parameter yang dianalisis adalah sifat kimia tanah berupa pH H2O, N total, P tersedia, K tersedia, C Organik, dan C/N.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan lahan berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap ketersediaan C organik, sedangkan kelerengan tidak berpengaruh signifikan (p>0,05) terhadap variabel sifat kimia tanah. pH berkorelasi signifikan (p <0,05) terhadap C organik (r = 0,445), P tersedia (r = 0,653), dan K tersedia (r = 0,543). Kata kunci: c-organik; evaluasi kesuburan hara; multiple cropping
