Abstract

Seeing GBKP (Batak Karo Protestant Church) as a tribal church in the role and function of a vocation in the world, it is necessary to interpret this vocation in the discourse of empowering a pluralistic society. In particular, as a church that inherits the values of John Calvin, it is necessary to revitalize these values in the context of the Karo people. Especially in social problems that exist outside the church building, even from a pluralistic general society. This paper also understands civil society as a "civil" society and is identical with standing on its own feet, then how the church is able to be present in encouraging, facilitating, and empowering the community regardless of ethnicity, religion and race identity. The call for GBKP in empowering people is something that needs to be renewed, so that GBKP praxis in a pluralistic society becomes real and not just a discourse.

Abstract

Pemuda gereja merupakan bagian dari subyek pembangunan perdamaian gereja, secara khusus pemuda sebagai generasi yang membutuhkan urgensi edukasi dalam pengembangan gereja atas nama kemanusiaan melalui tindakan-tindakan holistik keagamaan. Potensi yang membutuhkan peningkatan kapasitas bagi pemuda pada nyatanya masih diperlukan transformasi dan revitalisasi dari gereja, untuk lebih vital menjadi wadah bagi pemuda gereja. Pemuda gereja didorong untuk meningkatkan partisipatif secara aktif bersama pemuda lintas agama dalam perjumpaan atas nama agama demi kemanusiaan. Ancaman yang nyata bagi pemuda gereja ialah stereotipe negatif terhadap agama yang lain disebabkan sudut pandang etnosentrisme, terlebih tantangan masa kini ialah ancaman isu-isu SARA dan berita negatif bertopeng agama. Maka melalui tulisan ini secara spesifik memberi analisa dan evaluasi berbasis teori interkultural dalam melihat peran gereja melakukan pemberdayaan pemuda gereja sebagai subyek dalam perjumpaan lintas agama bagi perdamaian. Tulisan ini juga memberikan tawaran kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan gereja secara praktis dalam melakukan pemberdayaan berbasis interkultural bagi pemuda gereja bersama pemuda lintas agama, dilakukan melalui perjumpaan dan interaksi secara langsung sebagai dasar pengembangan secara berkelanjutan (sustainability) bagi pemuda gereja untuk saling membangun self reflexivity dan learning about others

Abstract

Living together as a whole of creation fosters the value of togetherness, which is manifested in thoughts and actions in relation to others. However, the challenge in realizing shared relations arises along with the development of the times, especially the increasing understanding of individualism and hedonism. This has an impact on ignoring human values, and does not provide opportunities for others to be respected and get the same life opportunities from a human standpoint. This is where awareness as an individual is needed as an awareness of contingency, to form pragmatism for the realization of opportunities in the human space. This is also relevant to the values of "aron", in the essence of life for the Karo people. Through this writing, the identity of limitations as a human becomes a contextual identity in strengthening the value of solidarity.
