Abstract

This research aims to know the obstacles experienced by parents in accompanying their children during learning from home at SMP Catholic Don Bosco Tolitoli. This research is descriptive qualitative. Researcher used interviews with parents to collect the data. There were 6 parents of Catholic junior high school student Don Bosco as the sample. The results of this research show that in general the obstacles of parents in accompanying children during learning from home are difficult to provide technology facilities, bad networks as obstacles, do not have enough time in accompanying children learning from home, children are not focused on learning, parents are difficult to explain the material.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat Peningkatan Kecerdasan Anak Sd Melalui Program Calistung Dan Bahasa Inggris Di Desa stadong, Kecamatan dampal Utara. Pengabdian ini menggunakan desain tindakan partisipatif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Desain ini dipilih karena bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat, khususnya para anak SD di stadong  dalam meningkatkan kecerdasan. Subjek dalam kegiatan pendampingan ini adalah anak-anak sd yang berada di desa stadong kecamatan dampal utara. Pelaksanaan program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat di Desa stadong  berhasil dilaksanakan dengan baik dan memberikan dampak positif bagi peningkatan kecerdasan anak SD. Integrasi program les calistung dan bahasa Inggris dalam kegiatan ini telah membantu anak-anak dalam meningkatkan keterampilan dasar membaca, menulis, berhitung, serta memahami kosakata dan cara memperkenalkan diri dalam bahasa Inggris. Partisipasi aktif masyarakat, khususnya orang tua dan guru, juga turut mendukung keberhasilan program ini. Selain itu, penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang interaktif dan inovatif, seperti permainan edukatif serta media pembelajaran yang menarik, membuat proses belajar lebih efektif dan menyenangkan bagi anak-anak.

Abstract

English is an international language that plays a crucial role in global communication, making early English learning crucial. Limited time spent studying English in elementary school can cause students to lose interest and feel alienated from the language. Therefore, teaching English through a fun learning approach is an effective alternative.This method involves fun games and activities to enrich students' vocabulary. Research shows that fun learning methods are proven effective in improving students' English vocabulary. Activities such as the "Pass the Object" game, "Touch Three Pencils" (Simon's word), "Flashcard Numbers", "Flashcard Colors", and "Touch Your Nose" (Simon's word) and singing while moving, are able to create an interactive and fun learning atmosphere. The teaching materials used include self-introductions and greetings, numbers, colors, and body parts. Students showed real progress in their English vocabulary mastery and communication skills. The results of this study indicate that enjoyable learning has significant potential to improve English comprehension at the elementary level. Learning that combines physical, social, and intellectual aspects can create a positive learning environment and motivate students to learn English enthusiastically. Furthermore, this method can be applied outside the classroom to broaden students' learning experiences.

Abstract

English Language Skills at the elementary school level remain relatively low due to limited access to foreign language learning within schools. This community service program was designed to introduce the fundamentals of English to students at SDN Luok Manipi through supplementary tutoring sessions. The program employed interactive learning methods with engaging approaches such as educational games, songs, and simple conversation practices. Conducted over five sessions, the materials covered Self-Introduction, Greetings, Partings, Introducing Others, and Parts of the Body. The outcomes indicate that students were able to recognize basic vocabulary, introduce themselves in English, and demonstrate an increased interest in learning. Overall, the program had a positive impact on students’ initial exposure to English and successfully fostered their motivation for further learning.
