Abstract

Abstract The purpose of  this research is to find out the effect of Direct Reading Thingking Activity (DRTA) strategy toward students’ reading comprehension of hortatory exposition text at Grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Merangin in academic year 2016/2017. This reasearch was an experimental research. It was conducted at SMA N 1 Merangin. The design of this research is quasi experimental with postest-only control group design. The population was the grade XI of SMA N 1 Merangin consists of 8 classes. By using cluster random sampling, it was found that XI IPS 4 as control class, XI IPS 3 as Experimental Class, and XI IPS 1 as try out class. The researcher used reading comprehension test of multiple choice questions as the instrument to collect the data. In analyzing the data, it used t-test that was helped by using SPSS 20.The result shows that students were taught by DRTA were better reading comprehension of hortatory exposition text than those who were taught by conventional strategy. In conclusion, DRTA strategy can be used as a teaching strategy in teaching reading comprehension of hortatory exposition text at SMAN 1 Merangin. Keywords: Reading Comprehension, Hortatory Exposition text, Direct Thinking Activity (DRTA) Strategy.

Abstract

The purpose this IbM to solve the teachers’ problem in manage of the exceptional children in teaching and lerning process. This activity is a  training for teacher to  solve learning  difficulties of the Exceptional Children. Its aim to improve the knowledge and skill of the teachers. The training consist of identifying and comprehending about the characteristics of exceptional children based on  perspective phycology, Linguistics and learning methods. This training has several methods in that application 1) lectures about exceptional children from perspective Psicology, 2)lectures about exceptional children from perspective Linguistics, 3) Dicuss about the materi by the teachers SDIT Al-Munawwaroh and SDN 01/VI Bangko Merangin, 4)Training about the learning methods. Based on the training, there are improvement of  the learning process at both of collega namely methods application and  learning strategies exceptional children, beside that learning material  are provided for teachers and exceptional students.

Abstract

The aimed of this research is to describe about students’ ability  in translating mathematic  text as a material in English for Teaching Math Course at fifth semester in Math Education Program,  Math and Sciece Department of STKIP YPM Bangko in academic year 2019/2020. This ability to provide students to be bilingual teacher in math subject. This reasearch is descriptive quantitave research. It will be conducted in Math Education Program of STKIP YPM Bangko. The population is fifth semester students consists of 18 students. It uses total sampling, the researcher will use written test as the instruments of collecting data, it consists about translating mathematics operation, translating mathematic problem, and passage about mathematics. The students are asked to translate from target language to sourse language and source language to target language. In analyzing the data, the researcher will use the procedure reduce the data, classify the data, describe the data, and data display. To know about students’ ability in translating mathematics english text, the researcher will use three indicatorss; accuracy, readability and acceptability. It also categories into 4 level mastery; excellent, good, fair, and poor. The result of this research found that Students’ ability in translating mathematic text was excellent. Based on the aspect of mathematic text, mathematic passage was difficult to translate for them, and accuracy indicator was lowest score, they tend to omitted word and change the spelling. It can be suggested to train students to practice more the interaction to the text and use the effective strategy in translation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how far the influence of the price of Oil Palm FFB in Mentawak Village, Nalo Tantan District. The research was conducted at the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) of oil palm Rp. 1,200.00/kg. The method used is a quantitative research method with simple linear regression using the SPSS version 22 program. The results of this study the regression model obtained is Y=44,554+0,074 X. The regression model obtained at the price of oil palm FFB Rp. 1,200.00/kg is worth positive, so that it is said that the price of oil palm FFB and the welfare of oil palm farmers is positively related. This study suggests that related parties pay more attention to farmers and can provide guidance such as training/counseling to farmers so that they can make derivative products from oil palm plantations. Thus, it is hoped that the farmers will not only benefit from the sale of their agricultural/plantation products but also become entrepreneurs.
