Abstract

Cognitive development in pre-school age children is an important component that is important for developing children's thinking abilities and it is needed in the next stage of development. Several factors can determine the development of children's cognition, one of which is the home environment. Home is the environment that has the greatest influence on children's development. Totsika & Sylva (2004) designed HOME (Home Observation for Measurement of The Environment Revisited) as an environmental measurement with a systematic assessment of the environment that cares about children's development. The purpose of this instrument is to measure, in a natural context, the quality, and quantity of stimulation and support available to children in the home environment. This article aims to analyze research studies regarding HOME measurement as a predictor of cognitive development in pre-school children. The method used in this research is the literature review. The factors that are identified as components of the scale and the HOME score determine how well the child's cognitive development can be stimulated. HOME scores can also mediate the relationship between parental IQ and children's IQ and show that the genetic influence exerted on the family environment is closely related to children's cognitive development.

Abstract

Poverty is a problem in various countries around the world that makes their governments look for solutions to alleviate the ruins. In the Islamic economy there are tools that can deal with the problem of poverty, namely through the distribution of zakat and capital development through Islamic bank and non-bank financial institutions. South Sumatra has 97.17% of the population who adhere to the Muslim religion, it should be able to have a positive impact on alleviating poverty locally and nationally. The biggest thing that caused chaos to increase in South Sumatra was the occurrence of a comprehensive disaster in various countries, namely COVID 19 which changed new conditions where people had to be able to adapt. Distribution of zakat and business development through BMT is one way out to minimize this poverty.

Abstract

Abstract The rising number of young people in Indonesia who are NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training), especially among vocational high school graduates, indicates that the transition from education to employment remains difficult. While worldwide research indicates that career interventions might improve Career Decision Self-Efficacy (CDSE), empirical evidence in Indonesian vocational school settings is scarce, particularly concerning short-term, module-based programs. This study evaluated how well a structured career planning intervention raised the Career Decision Self-Efficacy (CDSE) of vocational high school students. A comparison group was added to the quantitative pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design to put the findings in context. The experimental group consisted of fifty students, while the comparison group consisted of fifty-eight. The intervention comprised a singular five hour career planning session. Data were examined via paired sample and independent sample t-tests, with effect sizes computed by Cohen’s d. CDSE scores in the experimental group increased slightly from pretest (M = 119.34) to posttest (M = 122.52); however, the improvement was not statistically significant (p = 0.439) and indicated a small effect size (d = 0.11). No significant differences were seen between groups at the posttest. These results show that a single intensive session is insufficient to significantly increase career decision-making self-efficacy, which advances research on short-term career interventions. The results emphasize the need for continuous, multi-session, hands-on school-based career programs to improve the career readiness of vocational students. Keywords: career decision self-efficacy, career planning, pretest–posttest, school-based intervention, vocational high school

Abstract

Studi lanjutan perlu mengeksplorasi konteks lokal Indonesia.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic the learning process shifted from school-based education to home-based education, so parents need to be involved in children's learning in schools especially on home-based learning systems. The transition of this learning process involves parents to add roles and involvement especially parents with children with special needs. This study is a literary study using the scooping review method. Scooping reviews are used in this study to find out the involvement of parents with children with special needs in home-based education. A scoping review is structured based on a framework by Arksey and O'Malley (2005) that consists of five stages namely identifying research questions, identifying relevant studies, selecting data mapping studies, compiling, summarizing, and reporting results. The study search was conducted through several databases such as Science Direct, sage publications, and Proquest and 8 articles met the criteria. Eight studies were used, consisting of six qualitative studies, one quantitative study, and one mixed-method study. The study came from several countries such as Indonesia, Filipina, Mexico, Germany, Israel, Zimbabwe, Spain, Turkey, and the USA. The results of the research show that there are three identified themes: as a teacher, as a therapist, and as a search for information. In this case, parents with children with special needs need to work with professionals to maximize learning at school or home.
