Abstract

This research that has been conducted entitled "The Use of Code-Switching By Teacher In Classroom Interaction At MAN 2 Model Medan" which is motivated by the fact that there are differences in abilities between teachers and students in using and understanding English so make the teacher adjust the language gap so that code-switching occurs between students and teachers in classroom interaction. Code-switching is a communication between people use two or more language. The research methodology in this study use a qualitative method where the data collected by the researcher was by triangulation method that are observation, documentation and interview the teacher. The results obtained by the researcher are three types of code-switching used by teachers in classroom interaction, those are tag switching, inter-sentential switching, and intra-sentential switching. Based on those three types, the dominant types that are most often used by the teacher is inter-sentential switching. The teacher use code switching because of talking about particular topic, quoting somebody else, showing empathy, interjection, repetition, expressing group identity, and to clarify about the content. Based on the finding of the research, it can be concluded that code-switching can be used by teacher in classroom interaction because code-switching as the solution of the language gap between teacher and student.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas peran mahasiswa dalam program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di Desa Bangun Purba, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Provinsi Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk mengungkap peran mahasiswa KKN dalam pengembangan pendidikan di desa tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap dan menganalisis peran mahasiswa KKN dalam pembangunan pendidikan di Desa Bangun Purba serta dampak positif yang dihasilkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa KKN Kelompok 139 UINSU memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di Desa Bangun Purba. Mereka terlibat dalam pelatihan guru, program ekstrakurikuler, dan pengembangan kurikulum yang relevan. Dampak positif juga terlihat pada motivasi belajar siswa. Meskipun ada tantangan dalam implementasi program KKN, kolaborasi antara mahasiswa, pemerintah, dan masyarakat desa penting dalam upaya pembangunan desa. Peran mahasiswa KKN mencerminkan relevansi dalam konteks pembangunan desa dan berperan dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat setempat. Saran utama adalah meningkatkan persiapan mahasiswa sebelum program KKN, memperkuat kerjasama antara berbagai pihak, dan meningkatkan infrastruktur pendidikan di desa terpencil.

Abstract

Observation is a process of systematic observation of human activities and physical settings where these activities take place continuously from a natural locus of activity to produce facts. This research uses a qualitative approach to describe and explain the choice of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pre-teacher observation method. Through interviews with 10 pre-teaching students, the results show a variety of views regarding observation methods. In general, participant observation dominates as the method that is considered the most effective, because it provides an in-depth understanding of social interactions and group dynamics. Although structural and audio-visual observations receive support, direct involvement in classroom activities is considered to provide a more comprehensive understanding. The research results provide valuable insights for English language education practitioners. In conclusion, participant observation is the most relevant method for EFL pre-teaching analysis. Research supports the selection of observation methods that are appropriate to the context and research objectives to ensure the validity and relevance of observation results. Suggestions for further research include considering more specific observation methods, addressing the potential influence of observers in participant observation, and developing more contextual measurement instruments.

Abstract

In the era of revolution 4.0, technology plays an important role in every human life. It seems that in the world of education, technology has had quite a big impact on technological development, both negative and positive impacts. One of the positive impacts of technological developments in the education sector is that students and teachers can access information whenever and wherever they are. Apart from that, the use of technology can also be utilized in the teaching and learning process. Therefore, teachers are expected to be able to provide active and interactive learning using interesting and fun media such as PowerPoint, YouTube, and other media. One application that can be used is the Quizizz application. Quizizz is a web tool that contains interactive quizzes that are suitable for distance learning and face-to-face learning. The purpose of this research is to see an overview or explanation regarding the application of the Quizizz application in the classroom. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with several blood collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this research show that Quizizz has a quite good impact on classroom learning. This can be seen from the evaluation results of students who obtained an average score above the cut mark. So it can be concluded that the Quizizz media is very suitable and effective for use as an evaluation medium for both face-to-face and distance learning because it is not limited by space and time, making it easier for students and teachers.
