Abstract

Health consumers or patients become aware of their health literacy by obtaining, processing, understanding, and communicating health-related information when they come to health decisions. However, background knowledge obtained would set patients' expectations and satisfaction, and the expression of patients' expectation gap that creates dissatisfaction or concern with a service provided is called complaint. This present study aimed to obtain a comprehensive understanding about the role and activities of public relations on patient complaint management at X public hospital in Indonesia. This research applied a qualitative method using the purposive sampling technique. The research finding showed that the informants at the hospital lacked communication and public relations knowledge, and no training was given to the staff involved in communication matters. This absence of an academic foundation to guide the work directly affects the professionalism of the public relations manager, especially during managing complaints and making policies. As a result, the public relations department of the hospital did not have a direct channel for the patients to register their complaints, and the only indirect patient complaint facility aimed at the public relations was not managed by the public relations department. In short, this study shows that the public relations manager did not have a management role on the complaint management at the hospital, which consequently brings a snowball effect to the overall management of complaints due to the practices of encroachment, and the hospital must provide more training and professional coaching to bring back the role and functions of public relations.

Abstract

This studyaims to evaluate the quality of dialogic communication on university library websites and its correlation with students’ scientific information-seeking behaviour during the Covid-19 outbreak. Internet services that organizations frequently use for communicating with their audiences can provide discussion forum services. The university library’s management can investigate their students’ novel ideas, needs, and doubts through dialogic communication, so it will activate and enhance the intellectual power. This research proposed dialogic communication from a sample of 171 undergraduate and graduate students from four countries, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Malaysia. Data was obtained by an online survey. The results confirm that during the outbreak, the library websites have implemented the principles of dialogic communication. There is a significant correlation between dialogic communication and scientific information-seeking behaviour except for Chinese students. Library websites can serve as an effective conduit for engaging students in seeking scientific information for academic works. Students stated that e-learning increases their satisfaction and commitment to university websites. Lecturers are recommended to develop collaborative activities among students using the library website. Impacts on practice or policy are that website administrators can use dialogic communication to assist students; university top management can assure students’ rights to education; lecturers may use library website facilities to support asynchronous case-based learning.

Abstract

In the ever-evolving field of marketing, building and maintaining purchase intent remains a central theme and a significant challenge for marketers. Among various strategies em-ployed to sustain customer brand loyalty, social media marketing has emerged as a recent and effective tool. This study delves into the impact of social media marketing on the pur-chase intent of consumers, an area that is garnering growing interest from both marketing scholars and industry practitioners. The research specifically encompasses customers in Indonesia who follow "Oatside" on Instagram. Oatside is a popular plant-based milk prod-uct, and its Instagram followers form the target demographic for this study. A structured questionnaire was administered to a sample of 130 respondents, serving as the primary data collection method. The collected data were then examined using linear regression analysis conducted via SPSS. The results of the study indicate a positive correlation be-tween purchase intent and several key factors related to the brand's social media pres-ence. These include the brand's provision of entertaining content, facilitation of two-way communication with consumers, presentation of trending topics, and offering of personal-ized content. Each of these elements contributes to enhancing consumer engagement and influencing purchase decisions. As a pioneer in this novel area of marketing, the study not only contributes to the academic understanding of the impact of social media marketing but also suggests practical tactics for industry practitioners. These strategies can be in-strumental in optimizing their social media marketing efforts, thereby enhancing customer engagement and driving purchase intent.
