Abstract

Abstract

Tuntungan II Village is quite close to the original university, namely Universitas Sumatera Utara, which is only 15 km away. This area is currently the target area for community services activities because it is related to the rise in criminal activity in this village. This is related to the increasing difficulty for residents to obtain work. The Al Ikhlas Mosque, which is located in this village, is a mosque that was only built in the last 3 years with community self- funding and involving donations from various parties. Currently, this mosque can function as a means of large-scale congregational prayers such as Friday prayers, etc. However, due to limited funds, many facilities have not yet been met. Among these are security support facilities. Due to the limitations faced by residents, this mosque has minimal lighting and does not have its own security guard when residents perform their prayers. As a result, residents often complain about the frequent loss of motorbikes and other valuables. The entry of the community services team into this area is a breath of fresh air to answer the need for worship facilities. Now, with the installation of 8 channel closed circuit television (CCTV) with a 43inch flat television and lighting around the mosque area with 6 solar power plant-based public street lighting, it provides security and comfort for residents who worship. Losing your vehicle and shoes/sandals is now unheard of.

Abstract

Petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk) is a multi-purpose tree species (MPTS) that offers a sustainable solution for perennial cultivation in the Besitang District, within the Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) area, particularly in regions currently dominated by oil palm plantations. This study aims to obtain the dose of chicken manure briquettes and watering interval that produce the best growth of Petai seedlings. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomised Design (F-CRD) with observation parameters of height, diameter, number of leaves, shoot fresh weight, root fresh weight and shoot and root dry weight. The results showed that the interaction of manure briquette dose treatment and watering interval showed significant results on height, diameter, number of leaves, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight but no significant effect found on the root fresh weight of Petai plants. The treatment 1 kg briquettes and watering every three days gave the best results in the parameters of height (15.57 cm), diameter increase (0.34 cm), number of leaves (103 strands), shoot fresh weight (39.96 grams), shoot dry weight (33.24 grams) and root dry weight (21.98 grams). Therefore, it is recommended to apply organic chicken manure briquette fertilizer at a dose of 1kg and watering frequency of once every three days for the preparation of Petai seedlings to planting in Besitang District

Abstract

Until now, it seems that electricity is still a challenge in Indonesia, there are still many who have not enjoyed electricity for those who live in suburban or coastal areas, and some are located not far from cities. The target area is relatively close to the center of the capital, but has escaped the attention of the government because the location is quite remote with a minimal population, so it is considered uneconomical to provide electricity to this area. This hamlet is also inhabited by less than 18 families, so that only those with an interest are left in and out of this hamlet. The remote location from one house to another makes the construction of the electricity network no longer efficient for State Electricity Company. Therefore, people must be willing to live without electricity. Lighting as a basic need must be met from an oil lamp (sentir). Some residents who have a few advantages will buy individual generators. This generator only operates from 06.30 pm to 09.00 pm. After entering the sleep time, the generator is immediately turned off, the lighting is continued using an oil lamp. The emergence of the USU Community Services Implementing Team to this partner area provided new hope for the community. The community enthusiastically complained about this condition and hoped that the USU Community Services Implementation Team could help with these residents' problems. The results of monitoring by the Community Services Implementing Team at several residents 'houses proved the residents' complaints. Electric lighting as a basic need for residents is believed to be able to be completed using existing knowledge at the university in the form of lighting using solar power. Science and Technology The USU Community Services Team through the joining program has now produced economical science and technology products and realizes the expectations of the people in this region. Now people can enjoy light for 24 hours using electricity from solar energy. The community would like to thank the team and university for the scientific products that were donated to this village.
