Abstract

Background: Work Stress due to a high workload on Nurses is the impact of the low a nurse resilience behavior. The role of the character power from each nurse can be built and improved by a nurse resilience behavior, so that a nurse can be endured and able to face all the challenges or work stress that they are facing. Aim : this research aimed to know the correlation between the character strength and the nurse resilience at Gunung Maria Hospital of Tomohon. Method: This research used quantitative method with cross sectional approach, 154 respondents were invloved in this study through purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using the spearman rank correlations test. Results : There was a significant correlation between the role of character strength and the resilience of nurses at Gunung Maria Hospital (p=0,000) with coefficien tcorrelation = 0.297 which means the correlation between two variables was sufficient and has a positive direction, that means the higher the character strength role score. The higher the resilience score. Conclusion : There was a sufficient correlation between the role of character strength and the resilience of nurses at Gunung Maria Hospital. It is important for the nurses  to improve their role of character strength in building resilience.Keywords : Character Strengths; Nurses' Resilience; Clinical Nurses

Abstract

Cancer patients who will undergo therapy often feel anxious about the therapeutic procedures that will be given, and nurses have a key role through therapeutic communication. This study aims to determine the relationship between therapeutic communication and anxiety levels in cancer patients at Prof. Dr. RD Kandou Hospital, Manado. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 60 patients who would receive chemotherapy at Prof. Dr. RD Kandou Hospital, Manado. Data was collected by filling out a questionnaire, then analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. The results of the analysis show that the value of p = 0.09, with r = -0.221. It was concluded that there was no significant correlation between therapeutic communication and patient anxiety in facing cancer therapy procedures.Keywords: therapeutic communication; worry; cancer patient ABSTRAK Pasien kanker yang akan menjalani terapi sering merasa cemas terhadap prosedur terapi yang akan diberikan, dan perawat memiliki peran kunci melalui komunikasi terapeutik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara komunikasi terapeutik dengan tingkat kecemasan pada pasien kanker di RSUP Prof. Dr. RD Kandou, Manado. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan cross-sectional yang melibatkan 60 pasien yang akan menerima kemoterapi di RSUP Prof. DR. RD Kandou, Manado. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengisian kuesioner, lalu dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai p = 0,09, dengan r = -0,221. Disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada korelasi yang signifikan antara komunikasi terapeutik dengan kecemasan pasien dalam menghadapi prosedur terapi kanker.Kata kunci: komunikasi terapeutik; kecemasan; pasien kanker
