Abstract

Self-confidence is belief in one's abilities, strengths and self-assessment. The problem of lack of self-confidence will hinder his development in socializing, developing his potential, knowing himself, and other developmental tasks. The problem of insecurity is the result of negative thoughts (cognitive distortions) that have an impact on children's behavior. This problem occurred in one of the children at the Al-Washliyah Binjai Orphanage with the initials WS. Through the PKL 1 activity, I tried to help the WS to solve the problem by using the casework method on my mini project. WS. In the intervention process, I used a cognitive-behavioral approach which aims to change negative thoughts about the problems owned by WS into more positive thoughts, so that these thoughts have implications for the attitudes and behaviors taken by WS. After going through various stages of intervention, WS's confidence finally increased. This is a form of success of the mini project that has been implemented.

Abstract

Self-confidence is one aspect of personality that plays an important role in life, especially in the socialization process in society. Adolescence is a golden period for the formation of character or traits and inculcating values in life, however, this period is also prone to unpleasant things and negative effects during the process of absorbing these values. Self-confidence or self-confidence can decrease / decrease if someone experiences something unpleasant, for example experiencing bullying or bullying. The same thing was experienced by one of the children from the Al Washliyah Binjai orphanage, the lack of assistance and openness of SG made his confidence dim because of the bullying case that had happened to him. SG closed the meeting potential because he was not confident, so he hesitated in developing. Armed with the problems above, the practitioner makes a decision by providing services/assistance using the casework intervention method which includes various stages including engagement, intake, and contract (EIC) as the initial stage and ends with the termination stage.
