Abstract

Research aims to find out misconceptions experienced by students on the subject matter of substance pressure. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research using a survey method. The instrumental test used was a three-tier diagnostic test to determine the under-examined misconceptions. The research sample consisted of 43 junior high school students who had previously received substance-pressure learning materials in class. The data were analyzed by categorizing them into understanding the concept, needing more knowledge, errors, and misconception. The results of the study were as follows: (1) 9% of the students understood the concept, 51% of the students had a misconception, 34% of the students were lack of knowledge, and 6% of the students had some errors (2) misconceptions with the highest percentage were in the sub-concept of pressure gases with an average percentage of 70%, then the pressure of liquids (capillarity and osmosis in plant stems) was 52%, the pressure of solids was 51%.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the initial ability of student's creative thinking skills on electromagnetic materials and find a solution method of learning model suitable to the students' conditions. Method: The design of this study was pre-experimental. The data collection technique used a test method using creative thinking skills test instrument. The test instruments used in this study were tested for validity and reliability before use. Results: The results of this study showed different results. The percentage of the fluency indicator is 96.71% in the very good category, the percentage of the flexibility indicator is 51.97% in the medium category, the percentage of the elaboration indicator is 36.18%, and the originality is 16.45% in the less category. The average of all indicators is 50.32%, with the medium category. Novelty: Students' creative thinking skills can be developed through various methods, including the PjBL model, the Inquiry Social Learning model, PBL combined with Flashcard media, and PjBL integrated with STEM-based e-learning. The implications of this study can be used as a reference and essential alternative for future researchers to design learning tools using specific learning methods/models to increase students' or college students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Objective: Students are said to understand the concept comprehensively if they master the concepts from dimensions of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. One of the topics that still needs to be clarified is chemical equilibrium. Therefore, it is necessary to develop instruments to diagnose conceptions about the chemical concepts taught. The STDT is one of the instruments that will be developed by researchers, which contains three scientific questions to identify misconceptions in chemical equilibrium. Method: This development research used the ADDIE model. The instrument's effectiveness refers to the empirical validity after applying the STDT instrument. The effectiveness of the STDT instrument was obtained through the correlation of misconceptions experienced by students with the level of difficulty of the items. The STDT instrument was applied to 86 students. Results: The percentage of students who experienced the highest misconceptions occurred in the chemical equilibrium section of the equilibrium shift due to the influence of a catalyst. In each item of questions, most students need more knowledge or knowledge. The composition of the difficulty of these items should be considered from the start of the instrument's preparation. In the developed STDT instrument, the item difficulty obtained from empirical trials on students did not meet the ideal conditions for the composition of the item difficulty level. Novelty: The resulting instrument for detecting misconceptions. It is a tier diagnostic test that is integrated with three scientific questions.

Abstract

Objective: Learning with the CRT approach is suitable for realizing contextual learning in the Independent Curriculum. So, research was carried out to develop a PBL model learning module using a CRT approach that is ideal for application in teaching chemistry regarding buffer solutions. Method: The research carried out was of a qualitative descriptive type. Open module development uses the Research and Development (R&D) method. The research stages include definition, design, development, and dissemination. Results: The trial of the teaching application module was carried out at 3rd State Senior High School Jombang. The results show that the Learning module developed is suitable for learning Buffer material using the CRT approach, which is indicated by a validity score of 4 in the outstanding category and can complete 35 students with an average increase in learning outcomes in the N-Gain score in the medium category. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the CRT approach, which is essential to apply to the independent curriculum combined with the PBL learning model to train students to analyze a problem in a buffer material.
