Abstract

The goal would be achieved in this activity was increasing the ability and understanding of the 5th Grade students at SD Inp 12/79 Biru II Watampone in converting units and performing arithmetic operations related to these ones. The methods used in this service were lecture and simulation methods. The results of the service showed that the ability level of students (trainees) after attending the training in converting units was in good category and the weakness of students in converting units was about how to operate the decimal fractions as well as ordinary fractions and mixed fractions, especially in division operations.

Abstract

This is a pre-experimental research in One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The population comprised all fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 242 Padaelo, totaling 20 students. Saturation sampling was used, so the entire population served as the study sample. Data were collected through tests in the form of a pretest and a posttest. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive analysis indicated that the mean posttest score (85.00) was higher than the mean pretest score (54.25). Hypothesis testing using a paired-sample t-test produced a probability value (p) of 0.000 (p < 0.05), so H0 was rejected and H1 accepted, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest learning outcomes. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of the Word Square learning model assisted by picture media has an effect on the IPAS learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 242 Padaelo.
