Abstract

Abstrak. Jaringan perdagangan masa lampau menempatkan rempah-rempah sebagai komoditi utama. Dalam konteks ini, wilayah Maluku dikenal sebagai surga rempah-rempah, karena dua komoditi utama yang dihasilkan yaitu cengkih (Sysgium aromaticum; Eugenia aromaticum) dan pala (Myristica fragrans). Para pedagang Belanda melalui kongsi dagangnya yang dibentuk pada tahun 1602 yaitu Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) berhasil merebut hegemoni perdagangan rempah-rempah di Maluku. Topik tulisan ini adalah jejak jaringan perdagangan masa Kolonial terkait dengan kebijakan monopoli cengkih yang diterapkan oleh VOC sekitar pertengahan abad ke-17 hingga pertengahan abad ke-19 di Maluku. Periode ini ditandai dengan pemusatan produksi cengkih di tiga gugus pulau yaitu Nusalaut, Saparua, dan Haruku atau sering disebut Kepulauan Lease. Aspek yang dikaji adalah jejak pengaruh perdagangan cengkih masa Kolonial di Kepulauan Lease. Abstract. Clove Trade during Dutch Colonization and its Influence in Lease Islands. Trade networks of the past have put the spices as primary commodities. In this context, the Moluccas region known as “heaven of spices” because the two main commodities produced are cloves (Sysgiumaromaticum; Eugenia aromaticum) and nutmeg (Myristicafragrans). Dutch traders through its trading partnership formed in 1602 that is Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) managed to seize hegemony spice trade in the Moluccas. Topic of this paper is The trace of Colonial era trade networks associated with the clove monopoly policies applied by the VOCs around the mid-17th century to the mid-19th century in the Moluccas. This period is characterized by the concentration of clove production in the three island groups namely Nusalaut, Saparua, and Haruku or often called the Lease Islands. The aspect of studies is the trace of cloves trading influence in colonial era in the Lease islands

Abstract

Balai Arkeologi Ambon dengan wilayah kerja meliputi Provinsi Maluku dan Maluku Utara (selanjutnya disebut wilayah Kepulauan Maluku) telah menetapkan tema penelitian yang sesuai dengan kondisi wilayah kerjanya. Salah satu tema yang dikembangkan dalam pelaksanaan penelitian arkeologi di Balai Arkeologi Ambon adalah tema Pengaruh Kolonial di Nusantara. Hal ini, tentu saja tidak lepas dari sejarah kebudayaan yang pernah ada dan berkembang di wilayah Kepuluan Maluku. Seperti diketahui bahwa sejarah kedatangan bangsa asing terutama bangsa Eropa di nusantara diawali oleh faktor ekonomi yaitu perdagangan rempah-rempah, dimana wilayah Kepulauan Maluku merupakan pusat produksi dua jenis rempah-rempah yaitu cengkeh dan pala. Dalam konteks inilah, penelitian arkeologi yang dilaksanakan oleh Balai Arkeologi Ambon melalui tema Pengaruh Kolonial berupaya untuk mengkaji lebih jauh berbagai aspek yang terkait dengan masa penguasaan bangsa Eropa di wilayah Kepulauan Maluku. Makalah ini akan merangkum berbagai hasil penelitian arkeologi yang dilakukan oleh Balai Arkeologi Ambon sejak didirikan pada tahun 1995 hingga saat ini. Selanjutnya, akan dipaparkan ruang lingkup penjelasan yang tercakup dalam berbagai hasil penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan. Makalah ini juga berupaya melakukan evaluasi terhadap berbagai aspek terkait dengan tema pengaruh kolonial khususnya di wilayah Kepulauan Maluku. Archaeological Institute of Ambon with work areas include Maluku and North Maluku (hereinafter referred to as the Moluccas Islands) has set the theme of the research in accordance with the conditions of their working area. One of the themes developed in the implementation of archaeological research at the Institute of Archaeology of Colonial Influence Ambon is a theme in the archipelago. It is, of course, can not be separated from the cultural history that ever existed and flourished in the area of Moluccas Islands. As it is known that the history of the arrival of foreigners, especially Europeans in the archipelago preceded by economic factors, namely the spice trade, which is the center of the Maluku Islands of production of two types of spices are cloves and nutmeg. In this context, archaeological research carried out by the Archaeological Institute of Ambon through the Colonial Influence theme seeks to further examine various aspects linked to the control of European nations in the Moluccas Islands. This paper will summarize the results of archaeological research carried out by the Archaeological Institute of Ambon since its inception in 1995 until today. Furthermore, an explanation will be presented scope covered by the various studies that have been conducted. This paper also attempts to evaluate the various aspects related to the theme of colonial influence, especially in the Maluku Islands.

Abstract

Abstrak. Salah satu wilayah yang mendapat pengaruh kolonial di Kepulauan Maluku adalah Pulau Buru, ditandai dengan pendirian sebuah benteng pertahanan sebagai salah satu pos pengawasan jalur perdagangan. Manifestasi jejak pengaruh kolonial ini merupakan indikasi awal peran wilayah Pulau Buru dalam konteks historiografi masa kolonial. Dalam konteks ini pula, diperoleh gambaran tentang kronologi dan pola okupasi masa kolonial di Pulau Buru. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini difokuskan pada data arkeologi dan data sejarah, sehingga metode analisis deskriptif dan metode analogi sejarah digunakan untuk menjawab permasalahan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bentuk tinggalan arkeologi yang masih dapat diamati di wilayah penelitian berupa: benteng, bekas bangunan gereja, meriam, rumah pejabat Belanda, kantor pemerintahan, bekas dermaga, mata uang Belanda, dan tempayan. Berdasarkan hal itu, dapat diketahui bahwa peran Pulau Buru pada awal okupasi kolonial berkaitan dengan kebijakan monopoli cengkih di Kepulauan Maluku. Demikian pula tentang pola okupasi kolonial, dimana pada periode penguasaan kolonial di Pulau Buru mengalami perkembangan dari Kayeli sebagai pusat pemerintahan awal. Akhirnya pada awal abad ke-20, karena pertimbangan lingkungan maka pemerintah Belanda memindahkan pusat pemerintahan ke lokasi yang memiliki kondisi lingkungan yang lebih baik, yaitu Namlea. Rentang kronologi di kota baru inipun berlangsung sangat singkat yaitu sekitar 40 tahun. Kata Kunci: Jejak, Situs Kayeli, Kolonial, Pulau Buru. Abstract. Traces of The Dutch Colonial (VOC) on The Buru Island (17-20 Centuries). One of the areas that gets the colonial influence on Buru Island Maluku Islands are characterized by the establishment of a fortress as one of observation post on the trade route in Maluku Islands. Manifestations of traces of colonial occupation pattern is an early indication of the role of the island of Buru in the context of colonial historiography. In this context, it is important to trace the material culture of the colonial period to determine the role of this region in order to obtain an overview of the chronology and pattern of colonial occupation on the island of Buru. Therefore, this study focused on archaeological data and historical data, so that the descriptive analytical method and of historical analogies methods are used to answer the research problem. The results showed that the shape of archaeological remains which can still be observed in the study area: the fort, the former church building, the cannon, the house of Dutch officials, government offices, the former dock, the Dutch currency, and jars. Based on that, it can be seen that the role of Buru Island in the early colonial occupation was related to the clove monopoly policy in the Maluku Islands. Similarly, on the pattern of colonial occupation, which in the period of colonial rule on the island of Buru have evolved from early Kayeli as the central government. Finally, in the early 20th Century, due to environmental considerations the Dutch government moved the seat of government to a location that has a better environmental conditions, that is Namlea. The range of chronology in the new city is also very short, which is about 40 years. Keywords: Trace, Sites Kayeli, Colonial, Buru Island

Abstract

Abstract The sultanate of Tidore is not only an area of Islamic influence residing in Tidore Island, as it is widely understood all along. Tidore Sultanate, is actually one of the centers of Islamic power that has a broad influence to other areas in the Maluku Islands and in Papua. Tidore with Ternate, is the most developed region, as both are able to expand influence and control other areas. This study is a literature study, through historical data and archaeological data from previous studies, to explain the development of the Tidore Sultanate as a center of power and influence in the Tidore power periphery region. The results of the study explain, based on historical data and archaeological evidence, Tidore developed as a center of power with the character of a sultanate city, and has a broad influence to other areas both in the Maluku Islands and in Papua which is the periferinya territory or the territory of Tidore Sultanate.

Abstract

This study was conducted at three sites; Bukit Amaiha, Bukit Wawani, and Bukit Kapahaha. These sites had correlation in settlement, traditional defense and megalithic sites. The result shows that the dolmen is a product of megalithic culture found on traditional defense sites on the island of Ambon. The influence on megalithic culture on traditional defense sites caused by the strong megaliths concept in the early colonial period in Maluku. Megalithic concept in Bukit largest Amaiha related to people effort to maintain the social status of their leader. On the other hand, it also related to their effort to gain cosmological legitimacy between leaders and community at Bukit Wawani.
