Abstract

The spiritual experience experienced by converts in performing Umrah is certainly different from the spiritual experience experienced by Muslims who were born and raised in an Islamic environment. The spiritual experience of converts is more complex and dynamic, because it is influenced by various factors, such as background, motivation, expectations, and the challenges they face. This spiritual experience was studied using a phenomenological approach. The subjects of this study were 5 converts who had performed Umrah in the MKB community. The method and data collection tools in this research are interviews. And for the results of interviews and observations described in descriptive form. According to the results of data analysis that has been carried out in the results and discussion, the author can draw conclusions, namely: Converts who perform Umrah have aspects of spiritual experience described by William James, namely aspects of ineffability expressed through feelings of amazement and difficult to explain by words when arriving at the Kabah area and kissing Hajar Aswad, aspects of noetic quality expressed through feelings such as there are supernatural worshipers who help to kiss Hajar Aswad, The transiency aspect is expressed through feelings of anxiety and suddenly crying when reminded of the sins that have been committed, and the passivity aspect is expressed through focusing only on Allah SWT by dhikr and asking for forgiveness.

Abstract

Peningkatan jumlah jamaah haji lanjut usia (lansia) memerlukan pendekatan pelayanan yang holistik, termasuk aspek psikososial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi optimalisasi pelayanan haji ramah lansia dengan pendekatan psikososial pada Kantor Kementerian Agama. Metode penelitian kualitatif digunakan untuk memahami tantangan dan peluang dalam implementasi pendekatan ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kendala dan peluang dalam pelayanan haji ramah lansia serta merumuskan strategi optimalisasi yang sesuai. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini melibatkan wawancara mendalam di lokasi manasik haji serta embarkasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelayanan bagi lansia masih menghadapi kendala dalam aspek infrastruktur, sumber daya manusia, dan teknologi. Dukungan emosional, interaksi sosial, dan kesiapan mental lansia memainkan peran penting dalam keberhasilan pelaksanaan ibadah haji. Integrasi layanan psikososial ke dalam program pelayanan haji melalui pelatihan petugas, fasilitas pendampingan, dan kegiatan berbasis komunitas. Pelaksanaan ibadah haji bagi jamaah lanjut usia (lansia) menghadirkan tantangan khusus, baik dari segi fisik, mental, maupun logistik.  Rekomendasi yang diusulkan mencakup peningkatan fasilitas ramah lansia, pelatihan petugas, dan pengembangan teknologi pendukung. Optimalisasi pelayanan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas pengalaman ibadah haji bagi lansia. Keterbatasan penelitian ini hanya dilakukan pada wilayah atau instansi tertentu yang menyelenggarakan pelayanan haji bagi lansia, sehingga hasilnya belum tentu dapat digeneralisasikan ke daerah atau negara lain dengan kebijakan dan kondisi yang berbeda.

Abstract

The implementation of modern Umrah pilgrimage services faces various administrative and operational challenges that may lead to accommodation crises for pilgrims. The implementation of the Nusuk platform and the mandatory possession of Tasreh documents require a more structured managerial preparedness from Umrah travel organizers to mitigate accommodation-related risks. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Tour Leaders at Nida’ul Khoirot Tour & Travel in planning hotel availability and managing crises in the field using a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with five key informants representing management, Tour Leaders, and pilgrims. The findings reveal two main results. First, the risk of accommodation failure can be mitigated through a strict full-payment policy prior to visa issuance and multi-layered administrative verification within the Nusuk application. Procedural compliance plays a crucial role in securing pilgrims’ accommodation rights and protecting them from unauthorized intermediary practices. Second, in responding to operational crises such as delays in hotel check-in access, Tour Leaders demonstrated tactical responsiveness by arranging temporary transit accommodations supported by flexible financial autonomy. Service quality optimization was further strengthened by the emotional intelligence of Tour Leaders, manifested through psychological compensation in the form of culinary tours during transportation delays and mobility assistance initiatives for elderly pilgrims. In conclusion, the reliability of administrative risk mitigation and the application of empathetic leadership by Tour Leaders contribute significantly to maintaining operational comfort, service quality, and the spiritual focus of pilgrims during the Umrah journey.
