Abstract

Financial and digital literacy has been recognized as a crucial information resource for financial decision-making, but the impact of MSME’s financial and digital literacy on sustainability has received little attention. This study intends to examine the growth of MSME’s financial knowledge and technology adoption-related obstacles. A solid business foundation, which is sorely needed, can be created by training MSMEs about financial and digital literacy in a systematic, integrated, and sustainable way. This study is quantitative research considering it employs descriptive statistical analysis of numerical data, especially the partial least square method, to examine the impact of financial and digital literacy on the performance of MSMEs. The 237 respondents in Bandung who participated in a self-administered survey were used to get the data during the third quarter of 2022. The study proved that the performance of entrepreneurs was statistically influenced by financial literacy and digital transformation adoption. Comparing the two major attributes, digital transformation has a higher score in impacting the MSME’s performance. Bandung is one of the key pillars of the local economy, especially MSMEs where performance is affected majorly by digital transformation adoption. Literasi keuangan dan digital telah diakui sebagai sumber informasi penting untuk pengambilan keputusan keuangan, tetapi dampak literasi keuangan dan digital UMKM terhadap keberlanjutan kurang mendapat perhatian. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengkaji pertumbuhan pengetahuan keuangan UMKM dan hambatan terkait adopsi teknologi. Fondasi bisnis yang kokoh, yang sangat dibutuhkan, dapat diciptakan dengan melatih UMKM tentang literasi keuangan dan digital secara sistematis, terintegrasi, dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif mengingat menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif data numerik, khususnya metode Partial Least Square, untuk mengkaji dampak literasi keuangan dan digital terhadap kinerja UMKM. Ke-237 responden di Bandung yang mengikuti survei swakelola digunakan untuk mendapatkan data selama kuartal III-2022. Studi ini membuktikan bahwa kinerja wirausahawan secara statistik dipengaruhi oleh literasi keuangan dan adopsi transformasi digital. Membandingkan dua atribut utama, transformasi digital memiliki skor yang lebih tinggi dalam mempengaruhi kinerja UMKM. Bandung merupakan salah satu pilar utama perekonomian lokal, khususnya UMKM dimana kinerjanya sangat dipengaruhi oleh adopsi transformasi digital.

Abstract

Indonesia’s batik industry has seen fluctuating export trends, peaking at USD 744.79 million in 2022 before declining by 13.51% in 2023. To support batik artisans, Deposit Insurance Corporation is called Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan (LPS) in Indonesia and Batik Fractal launched a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative—an end-to-end business training program in Sukabumi and Cianjur, West Java. This study evaluates its impact using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework, which measures social, economic, and environmental benefits. The program improved artisans’ digital literacy with jBatik applications, enhanced design creativity, strengthened financial management, and optimized pricing strategies and social media use. The SROI ratio of 17.039 indicates that every Rp 1 invested generates Rp 17,039 in social impact, demonstrating the program’s efficiency. These findings emphasize the need for structured training, certification, and mentorship to preserve traditional batik techniques while fostering innovation. Market expansion through digital platforms, branding, and export assistance, along with financial support, can enhance industry sustainability. Furthermore, adopting technology, such as blockchain for authenticity verification and eco-friendly innovations, can modernize the sector. This study highlights the effectiveness of targeted interventions in strengthening economic resilience and safeguarding Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) play an influential part in the economy of Indonesia. Their contribution to economic development is often hindered by insufficient financial literacy and a slow adoption of digital transformation. Enhancing these areas is crucial for boosting competitiveness, resilience, and sustainable growth. This research examines the impact of financial literacy, financial attitudes, financial satisfaction, and digital transformation on the performance of MSMEs in Bandung City. A quantitative research approach was utilized, employing primary data gathered through structured questionnaires given to MSME proprietors. The data analysis was completed using the partial least squares (PLS) technique, with the measurement model evaluated through convergent validity, discriminant validity, and reliability tests to maintain methodological rigor. The findings demonstrate that financial literacy, financial attitudes, financial satisfaction, and digital transformation each have a partial yet significant impact on MSME performance. The findings underscore the importance of integrating financial capability development with strategies for digital adoption to enhance business performance. The uniqueness of this research lies in its integration of financial behaviors and digital transformation aspects, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing MSME performance. This study presents practical recommendations for policymakers and business leaders in developing strategies that enhance MSME competitiveness in the digital economy
