Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of describing the visual ability to recognize number symbols in children aged 5-6 years at Boanergese Kids Kindergarten in Kima Atas Village, through the method of singing with pictures. Referring to the nature of the problem and research objectives, it seems that the research is of a qualitative nature, so that the relevant methods used are qualitative and naturalistic methods. This research is planned to spend 6 months and be carried out in the Boanergese Kids Kindergarten, Kima Atas Village. The data collected in this study is qualitative data, namely in the form of information expressions in the form of words and sentences, events or activities of research subjects, and data in written form available in documents. Data collection techniques that will be used in this study are observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis. The data analysis process in this study uses the Miles model interactive analysis process, namely data reduction, data collection, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the observations from this study, children will be very interested in participating in learning in an effort to be able to recognize number symbols through singing with fun pictures and can stimulate children to be more active and focus on the learning process. This shows that playing while learning is a principle in learning in kindergarten (TK) and PAUD in general. It can be seen in this study that based on observation, ongoing learning and interviews, there are very well developed criteria with an average presentation of 72.66%. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it was concluded that the application of the singing method with pictures can improve the ability to recognize number symbols for children aged 5-6 years in Boanergese Kids Kindergarten.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing and describing the effectiveness of the principal's leadership, the teacher's perspective on the principal's leadership behavior, and the parents' perspective on the effectiveness of the principal's leadership in Kindergarten in Mapanget District, Manado City. Referring to the nature of the problem and research objectives, it seems that the research is of a qualitative nature, so that the relevant methods used are qualitative and naturalistic methods. Data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis. The data analysis process in this study uses the Miles model interactive analysis process, namely data reduction, data collection, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of this observation and research, children are very interested in participating in (permanent) learning by optimizing distance learning. It can be seen in this study that the optimization of distance learning has very well developed criteria with an average presentation of 83.77%. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the principal's leadership in efforts to optimize distance learning in kindergarten still needs to be improved so that distance learning becomes more effective and fun.

Abstract

Background. There were some ideas for accelerating Indonesia’s K-12 education using alternative names to RSBI (Rintisan Sekolah Berbasis Internasional or Prepared International Standard School), which has already been proposed by law, such as accelerated classes or national schools plus. While this class charges a higher rate than the standard class, many parents hope that the English usage in class will accelerate their children's progress. On the other hand, it should develop critical thinking skills for students to differentiate an accelerated class from others. Aims. This research aimed to find evidence and uncover the development of critical thinking skills in an accelerated class. The entire study took place in North Sulawesi, involving 19 schools across K-12 grades (from elementary to high school), and data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Methods. This research employs a field study to collect data from entire schools that offer accelerated classes in North Sulawesi. Using the ex post facto method, which involves identifying something that has already occurred, we employed interviews, observation, and document study to gather all the necessary data. As mentioned previously regarding schools as objects, we attempted to delve deeper into these critical thinking skills in students, as well as in the teachers who take responsibility in class. Conclusion. There are some critical key results from it, which are: (1) the assumption of accelerated class, between merely English usage or critical thinking skill, (2) teachers and students wish in creating critical thinking skill outcome from learning process, (3) teacher having difficulties in planning critical thinking skill effort in class, (4) students somehow want critical thinking skill is being held in accelerated class using proper learning process, and (5) good facility and English usage is not enough for accelerated class with such high rate.
