Abstract

Islam has a deep respect for human life, and as such abortion is basically forbidden in Islam. Experts in Islamic law agree that abortion conducted after the foetus is considered to have a soul (after 4 months or 120 days) is forbidden. Nevertheless, Islamic scholars have different opinions in cases where the foetus does not yet have a soul; some permit it, and some forbid it. Those experts in Islamic law who allow it include lbnu 'Abidi from the Hanafi school and lbnu Qudamah from the Hambali school. Meanwhile, those who forbid it include Imam al-Gazali from the Syafi'i school. The writer of this article tends toward the opinion that forbids abortion even when the foetus does not yet have a soul. Nevertheless he does believe that a person may have an abortion in an emergency situation such as to save the life of the mother.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the determinants of intention to use Sharia life insurance among Muslims in Indonesia. The total sample size in this study reached 101 participants, determined using the convenience sampling technique. The data analysis technique employed in this research adopts partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0 software. The findings of this study indicate that the intention to use Sharia life insurance is determined by attitude and perceived behavioral control. However, religiosity was not found to mediate the relationship between attitude, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norm in relation to the intention to use Takaful. This research also provides recommendations for Sharia life insurance companies in Indonesia to enhance their products and services, aiming to foster a positive perception among the Muslim community towards Sharia life insurance.

Abstract

This study analyzes trade openness and macroeconomic variables on foreign investment in Indonesia. This study uses Indonesian time series data from 1980 to 2022. The data analysis technique uses the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method. Data were analyzed using data stationarity test, optimal lag test, CUSUM test, classical assumption test, cointegration test and ARDL estimation processed with Eviews 10. The results showed that indirect trade openness has a positive and significant effect on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the short term and long term. The exchange rate (IDR to USD) has a negative and significant effect on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the short and long term. Inflation rate in the short term has a positive and significant effect but in the long term has a negative and insignificant effect on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). GDP has a negative and significant effect in the short term but in the long term has a significant positive effect on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
