Abstract

Plana Village located in Somagede District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java Province is about 25 km Southeast of the Universitas Jenderal Soedirman Campus. In this village, a small business group is engaged in freshwater fish farming under the names TIRTA LESTARI and GAPOKTAN PLANA JAYA fish cultivator groups. Based on direct observations, the group uses the Serayu River as the primary water source for their fish ponds. The position of the fish pond is around 10 meters higher than the river flow so the water lifting process is carried out using a water pump. The only solution for providing water is to use a machine-powered water pump. The group complained about this solution because they had to pay operational costs for engine fuel. As a result, the group's profits are not optimized. Considering these conditions, a water pump technology transfer activity with a waterwheel as the driving force is planned to develop the results of research and service carried out in the Physics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.  The goal of the operations that have been conducted is to address partner concerns regarding the provision of water supplies. Activities aimed at becoming an economically productive partner will prioritize key issues, including the implementation of green energy technology, such as hybrid water pumps powered by solar energy and river flow. The next step involves providing training and counseling sessions for the TIRTA LESTARI agriculture group and the merged PLANA JAYA farming group.

Abstract

The growing problem of household waste, along with the practice of open burning, remains a major cause of environmental pollution and public health problems. This study aims to design a simple waste incinerator based on appropriate technology, equipped with a blower system, a water-based smoke filter, and a solar energy source, to improve combustion efficiency and reduce smoke emissions. The research was conducted using an engineering research approach, involving literature studies, observations, and conceptual design, without fabrication or direct experimental testing. The device was designed with an iron drum as the main combustion chamber, an input blower to increase oxygen supply during combustion, and an output blower to direct smoke toward a water-based filtration system (a simple wet scrubber). The blower system uses DC power supplied by solar panels and batteries, allowing the device to operate independently and efficiently. The study results indicate that the use of blowers can improve flame stability, accelerate combustion, and reduce smoke from incomplete combustion. In addition, the water-based filtration system is considered simple, economical, and sufficiently effective in trapping dust particles and fine ash before the smoke is released into the environment. This device is specifically designed to burn lightweight organic waste such as dry leaves, small branches, and paper, making it suitable for household and community-scale applications. This research is expected to serve as a basis for developing a simpler, more economical, easy-to-apply, and environmentally friendly waste incinerator as an alternative community-based waste management solution.

Abstract

Muara Sungai Serayu merupakan wilayah pesisir yang dipengaruhi oleh interaksi antara dinamika laut dan aliran sungai sehingga memiliki karakteristik hidrodinamika yang kompleks. Informasi mengenai karakteristik pasang surut dan pola arus pasang surut sangat penting dalam mendukung pengelolaan wilayah pesisir, kegiatan pelayaran, serta perencanaan pembangunan kawasan pantai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan tipe pasang surut, menghitung elevasi muka air rencana, dan menganalisis pola hidrodinamika arus pasang surut di Muara Sungai Serayu, Kabupaten Cilacap. Data yang digunakan meliputi data pasang surut dan data batimetri wilayah penelitian. Analisis pasang surut dilakukan menggunakan metode kuadrat terkecil (Least Square Method), sedangkan simulasi arus dilakukan menggunakan model hidrodinamika dua dimensi berbasis perangkat lunak MIKE 21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perairan Muara Sungai Serayu memiliki tipe pasang surut campuran condong ke harian ganda (mixed prevailing semidiurnal) dengan nilai Formzahl sebesar 0,47. Nilai elevasi muka air rencana yang diperoleh meliputi MSL sebesar 1,10 m, HHWL sebesar 2,28 m, MHWL sebesar 1,92 m, MLWL sebesar 0,28 m, LLWL sebesar −0,08 m, dan LAT sebesar −0,17 m. Hasil pemodelan menunjukkan bahwa pola arus dipengaruhi secara dominan oleh siklus pasang surut dengan arah arus yang berubah mengikuti fase pasang dan surut. Kecepatan arus rata-rata pada lokasi potensial berkisar antara 0,24–0,61 m/s. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Muara Sungai Serayu memiliki dinamika arus pasang surut yang cukup signifikan dan berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai dasar perencanaan pengelolaan wilayah pesisir.
