Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to produce a module based on research that fulfills valid, practical and effective requirements based on cross-analysis of soybean morphological and agronomic characters to improve science process skills. The module are developed based on the ASIE model. The validation results by the material experts and proved the field showed an average of 87.31% valid criteria while the media experts were 94.60% very valid criteria. The practicality of the module is practical with a percentage of 82.3%. The module effectiveness results are 0.55 with the criteria quite effective and can improve students' science process skills.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan modul berbasis proyek yang memenuhi syarat valid, praktis dan efektif berdasarkan analisis lintas karakter morfologi dan agronomi kedelai untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains. Modul dikembangkan berdasarkan model ASIE. Hasil validasi oleh ahli materi dan praktisi lapangan menunjukkan rerata 87,31% kriteria valid sedangkan oleh ahli media adalah 94,60% kriteria sangat valid. Hasil kepraktisan modul dinyatakan praktis dengan persentase 82,3%. Hasil keefektifan modul diperoleh 0,55 dengan kriteria cukup efektif dan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa.

Abstract

Natural Sciences is the study of natural phenomena. In science learning, students are expected to have scientific knowledge, high-level thinking, critical and creative thinking, so that they become independent learners. The purpose of this study was to describe students' critical thinking skills through environmental-based TPACK learning on the human motion system material. This research method is done by lesson study with 3 learning cycles. The results showed that TPACK learning can improve students' critical thinking, especially in identifying, linking, analyzing and concluding in this study the application of TPACK learning to improve thinking skills in categories can be very good.

Abstract

Environmental damage is the effect of negative impacts on the natural environment caused by human activities. The importance of empowering knowledge and caring for the environment in students so that they can participate in protecting and preserving the environment. The purpose of this research is to describe literacy and environmental awareness to preserve the environment and the relationship between environmental literacy and awareness to preserve the environment. This research method uses descriptive quantitative research and research techniques using a questionnaire with a sample of 50 students using a random sampling technique in the Adiwiyata school program, especially junior high school students. The instruments used were student characteristic sheets, environmental literacy, and environmental awareness questionnaires. Research data were analyzed descriptively and the relationship between literacy and environmental awareness used correlation analysis using SPSS. The results showed that students' environmental literacy was classified as moderate to high with a score of 1.6 – 3.20. The average value of students' environmental awareness is 73% indicating that students have a caring attitude toward environmental problems. Environmental attitudes and environmental awareness also have a significant relationship (sig <0.05). Through environmental literacy and awareness, students will have the potential to protect and preserve the environment.

Abstract

Proses membangun pengetahuan merupakan dasar dari suksesnya pembelajaran. Pembelajaran di Abad 21 menitikberatkan pada kompetensi yang digunakan untuk mengatasi permasalahan sehari-hari. Keterampilan metakognitif merupakan keterampilan siswa mampu merefleksikan apa yang mereka pelajari. Siswa yang memiliki keterampilan metakognitif diharapkan mampu menguasai konsep-konsep genetika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pengetahuan genetika dan keterampilan metakognitif siswa dalam praktikum isolasi DNA berdasarkan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XII di salah satu SMA di Tuban Jawa Timur. Untuk keterampilan metakognitif, digunakan instrumen Metacognitive Awareness Inventory yang dimodifikasi dari Schraw dan Dennison (1994). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa yang diuji memiliki tingkat keterampilan metakognitif dalam kategori berkembang sangat baik sebesar 50%, berkembang baik 36% dan mulai berkembang 13%. Ditinjau dari indikator metakognitif menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan siswa memiliki keterampilan metakognitif yang berkembang sangat baik dan baik. Namun siswa masih memiliki kelemahan dalam indikator evaluasi yang masih terdapat keterangan keterampilan metakognitif siswa belum berkembang sebesar 1%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi keterampilan metakognitif siswa berdampak terhadap hasil tes pengetahuan genetika. Hasil tes pengetahuan genetika menunjukkan pengetahuan siswa dalam kategori tinggi sampai sedang. Keterampilan metakognitif berperan dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan genetika yang didukung dengan praktikum isolasi genetika yang berdasarkan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek. Abstrack: The process of building knowledge is the basis of successful learning. Learning in the 21st Century focuses on competencies that are used to solve everyday problems. Metacognitive skills are skills students are able to reflect on what they learn. Students who have metacognitive skills are expected to be able to master genetic concepts. The purpose of this study was to describe the genetic knowledge and metacognitive skills of students in DNA isolation practicum based on a project-based learning model. The subjects of this study were students of class XII in one of the senior high schools in Tuban, East Java. For metacognitive skills, a modified Metacognitive Awareness Inventory instrument was used from Schraw and Dennison (1994). The results showed that most of the students tested had a metacognitive skill level in the category of very well developed by 50%, well developed 36% and starting to develop 13%. In terms of metacognitive indicators, it shows that overall students have metacognitive skills that are very well developed and well developed. However, students still have weaknesses in the evaluation indicators and there is still a description of students' metacognitive skills that have not developed by 1%. This shows that the higher students' metacognitive skills have an impact on the results of the genetic knowledge test. The results of the genetic knowledge test showed students' knowledge in the high to medium category. Metacognitive skills play a role in increasing genetic knowledge, supported by genetic isolation practicum based on a project-based learning model.

Abstract

Microbiology literacy development shapes people's attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions toward microorganisms. This study aims to explore the relationship between microbiological literacy and people's perceptions and attitudes towards microorganisms. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze the relationship between microbiological literacy and public knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of microorganisms. Data were retrieved from Scopus using relevant keywords and then filtered based on the following criteria: published between 2019–2024, in English, and open access. The analysis was conducted through four steps: coding, concept review, and summarizing key information (author, year, and core concepts). The results were synthesized to map the relationship between microbiological literacy and public perceptions. The results showed that respondents' knowledge levels varied about various health issues. Good microbiological knowledge can improve health literacy, affecting individual attitudes and perceptions of health. Regarding respondents' attitudes, it is known that respondents are interested in education and health awareness. A positive attitude toward health can encourage actions that support public health. In contrast, individuals with low microbiology knowledge orientation are more likely to cause negative perceptions and distrust of health interventions. Continuous, evidence-based education is essential to improve microbiology and health literacy and shape positive attitudes toward health interventions. Microbiology knowledge has a broad impact on daily life and the future. However, there are significant challenges in understanding microbiology. Public perception of microbes is often only associated with 'germs' and negative images. Therefore, microbiology knowledge in learning must be presented in visual arts and visual, olfactory, and tactile experiences. The more we understand the role and knowledge of microbes, the better we can make relevant decisions.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the variation of trichomes in the Solanaceae family found in the Cendana Hill of Sedan District, Rembang Regency. This study used the trichome printing method and the results were observed under a microscope. This study found trichomes glandular and non-glandular from the six Solanaceae species with various types. Different variations were found from the six species of the Solanaceae family, i.e: stellata, acicular, uncinate, hydathode, simplex and curved. The variations of trichomes from the Solanaceae family have different characteristics and shapes. This study identified six species from the Solanaceae family that have variations in the shape and type of trichomes on the epidermal layer of leaves, i.e: Solanum melongena var. melongena, var. serpentinum, Solanum lycopersicum, Solanum nigrum, Physalis angulata, Nicotiana tabacum, and Capsicum frutescens. Non-glandular trichomes act as a mechanical defense against pathogens and herbivores, while glandular trichomes have the function of secreting secondary metabolites, such as alkaloids and flavonoids, which play a role in chemical defense.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the density of stomata and stomatal structure on Mango leaves in each ring of the cement factory area. The research is descriptive analysis. Sampling was done through a random survey in the Indonesian cement industry Tuban factory which was divided into 3 rings, namely Ring 1 Ring 2 and Ring 3. The parameters observed were stomatal density and damage. The results showed that the density of stomata in Ring 1 showed a percentage of 0.162 which showed a low density while Ring 2 was 371, 91 which showed a medium density and Ring 3 was 449.07 which showed a medium density. The results presented in Table 2 on the level of stomatal damage show a difference in the percentage of stomatal damage on mango leaves (Mangifera indica) located in Ring 1 and Ring 2. In stomata in Ring 1 with a greater percentage of stomatal damage, which is 34.7% compared to stomatal damage to mango leaves located in Ring 2 by 20.7% and Ring 3 by 11%. The conclusion of this study shows that the density and damage to the stomata of mango leaves (Mangifera indica) can be influenced by the concentration of pollutants. the level of density and stomatal damage in the Semen Indonesia Tuban area shows that the closer to the factory area the higher the level of air pollution which causes the nearest area to have high stomatal damage and high stomatal density.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test the ability of T. harzianum to inhibit the growth of pathogenic mold species and to determine the effectiveness of T. harzianum mold species in inhibiting the growth of pathogenic molds, as well as investigate how T. harzianum and pathogenic molds interact with each other. The Microbiology Laboratory of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Malang, is where this research was conducted. The dual culture method was used for this test by using Czapek Agar (CA) medium. The isolated molds were then incubated for 4x24 hours at 25O–27OC. After that, the antagonism power was calculated. The results of macroscopic and microscopic observations were used to assess the mechanism of T. harzianum mold antagonism against pathogenic molds. The results showed that Trichoderma mold species were more resistant to the pathogenic mold Fusarium oxysporum than the pathogenic mold Capnodium. The antagonistic power of T. harzianum was 80%, with the antagonistic power of Capnodium sp. at 66.7%. The mechanism of mycoparasitism occurs when the hyphae of T. harzianum attach or entangle the hyphae of pathogenic molds, causing damage to the hyphal structure and inhibiting the growth of pathogenic molds.

Abstract

In the application of discovery learning in the classroom, the main source of science information is not the teacher, but various other sources that can be easily accessed by students. Learning sources that can be flexibly accessed by students are Google sites. This study was conducted to analyze how the implementation of discovery learning and Google sites in learning the formation of human urine. The research was conducted in one of the high schools in Malang. The students involved were grade XI. Data were collected through observation, teacher reflection sheets, learning implementation sheets (student and teacher activities), and student response questionnaires. The research data were narrated based on observations and learning implementation and student responses were calculated using percentages. The research findings show that the implementation of discovery learning and Google sites in learning the formation of human urine has changed the learning conditions of students for the better. High school students can actively answer teacher questions, are able to work on student worksheets, can work together well, discuss actively and draw conclusions. Google sites are a medium that can help students to find information related to the learning being carried out. Student responses related to learning scored 78.95 which is included in the good category. Collaborative activities among students can run well. Students agree that they do not forget the responsibilities given by their group to each individual.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan keterampilan abad ke-21 bertujuan agar mahasiswa tumbuh menjadi pribadi yang dapat beradaptasi dengan perkembangan zaman yang semakin maju dan dapat memecahkan segala permasalahan yang ditemui. Keterampilan abad ke-21 yang dibutuhkan mahasiswa dalam memecahkan suatu permasalahan dalam pembelajaran biologi salah satunya adalah keterampilan berpikir kreatif. Upaya memberdayakan keterampilan berpikir kreatif dapat dilakukan melalui pengembangan modul berdasarkan hasil penelitian analisis uji fitokimia daun. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan modul berbasis proyek berdasarkan analisis uji fitokimia daun yang memenuhi syarat valid, praktis dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa. Modul dikembangkan berdasarkan model pengembangan ASIE. Hasil validasi oleh ahli materi dan praktisi lapangan menunjukkan rerata persentase 83% kriteria valid sedangkan oleh ahli media adalah 87% kriteria valid. Hasil kepraktisan modul dinyatakan praktis dengan presentase 83%. Hasil keefektifan modul berdasarkan hasil n-Gain diperoleh 0,44 dengan kriteria cukup efektif dan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa. Profil keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa menunjukkan bahwa nilai akhir rata-rata per indikator antara lain: fluency 80, flexibility 80, originality 82 dan elaboration 85. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan memenuhi persyaratan valid, praktis dan efektif yang dapat dibuktikan dengan peningkatan nilai akhir keterampilan berpikir kreatif. Manfaat adanya penelitian ini dapat memberdayakan keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa, pemahaman tentang fitokimia daun, keterampilan penelitian, pembelajaran aktif dan kolaboratif.
