Abstract

Waru leaves have been shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiemetic, and antibacterial properties that are efficacious as a fever reliever, ulcer treatment, and tonsillitis treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity as well as to formulate and evaluate antiseptic gel preparations (hand sanitizer) from hibiscus leaf extract (Hibiscus tiliaceus L) against parameters namely organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test. The extraction method used is the maceration method using 96% ethanol as solvent. The results of the phytochemical screening study were positive containing flavonoids, tannins, saponins and phenols. Physical stability of hand sanitizer gel preparations ethanol extract of waru leaves (Hibiscus tiliaceus L) effective in inhibiting Staphylococcus epidermidis and Escherichia coli bacteria, the most effective in inhibiting FIII at a concentration of 15% with the resulting inhibition zone value of 17.3 mm for Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria and 18.8 mm for Escherichia coli bacteria. Keywords : Gel, hand sanitizer, hibiscus leaf, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermidis

Abstract

The pattern of drug consumption in the community is very important to be given education considering the many factors that cause the pharmacological ineffectiveness of the desired drug, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. Public knowledge about drugs is still lacking, while drugs must be used properly and correctly so as to provide optimal pharmacological effects. Activities carried out by providing education on how to take medicine during the month of Ramadan at the Perimnas Antang Health Center, Manggala sub-district, Makassar city. The use of drugs during the month of Ramadan must be supported by public knowledge about how to consume drugs that are good and safe. Provision of correct information on the use of drugs is very important for the community to avoid negative impacts on personal health and the environment. The method used in achieving this goal is socialization activities regarding the meaning of drugs, functions, classification of drugs, socialization of various types of drug preparations and methods of consumption and dosage during the holy month of Ramadan to residents of the Manggala sub-district, Makassar City. In outreach activities on how to take drugs properly and correctly during the month of Ramadan, the socialized material will be discussed, namely an explanation of the general definition of drugs, drug classifications consisting of over-the-counter drugs, limited over-the-counter drugs and types of drugs commonly consumed by the general public, especially residents of Antang, Manggala sub-district. Makassar city.

Abstract

One of the plants that can be used as traditional medicine is binahong leaf (Anredera cordifolia (Ten) Steen). Bioactive subtances from the Binahong plant can help the healing process of disease, research has been carried out on the antibacterial and antifungal activity pf binahong leaf ekstrack (Anredera cordifolia (Ten) Steen). This research is an experimental laboratory aimed at testing the potential antibacterial and antifungal activity of the leaf ekstract of binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten) Steen) againts the growth of the bacteria bacillus subtillis s[pan the fungi aspergillus niger. Binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia (Ten) Steen) Made in the from of a thick ekstrack then carried out phytochemical screening, antibacterial active test using Bacillus Subtillis and shigella sp bacteria also tested for antifungal activity using aspergillus niger fungus. The results showed that the leaf extract of binahong (Anredera cordifola(Ten) Steenins) had antibacterial activity againt bacillus subtillis and shigella sp bacteria at concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75% by disc method and was in the medium sterong category. And binahong leaf extrac (Anredera cordifolia (Ten) Steen) has antifungal activity againts aspergillus niger at concentrations of 24%, 50%, and 75% by disc method and is in the medium category.
