Abstract

Acetosal, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is included in the category of drugs with a dose of 80 mg. In patients with coronary heart disease and severe hypertension, this drug is used as antiplatelet therapy with the aim of preventing stroke. Acetosals are included in the BCS class II category, so efforts are needed to develop formulations that can increase the speed of dissolution and provide a fast effect. This study aims to determine the variation in gelatin concentration as a binding agent to physical properties and determine the best gelatin concentration that meets the dissolution test of acetosal chewable tablets. The method used to make acetosal chewable tablets is direct felt. Acetosal chewable tablets are made into 3 formulas with variations in the concentration of gelatin binders of 2%, 6%, and 10%. The data obtained is then analyzed with one-way ANOVA. The results showed variations in gelatin concentrations of 2%, 6%, and 10% resulting in good physical properties of acetosal chewable tablets. The gelatin concentration of 2% in formula 1 showed the best results with an average test value of uniformity of weight 220.6 ± 1.42 mg, uniformity of diameter size 0.838 ± 0.01 cm, and thickness 0.436 ± 0.01 cm, hardness 4.3 ±0.15 kg, brittleness 0.49 ± 0.32%, crushing time 31 ± 3.0 seconds and dissolution 95.81%. A significant difference in values was found in the hardness test results (p = 0.001) and the time of destruction (p = 0.000). The best percent dissolution is found in Formula 1 with a dissolution value of 95.81%.

Abstract

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by metabolic disorders characterized by elevated blood glucose levels or hyperglycemia. The aim of diabetes mellitus treatment is to control blood glucose levels within the normal range, eliminate accompanying clinical symptoms, and reduce the risk of acute complications. To achieve therapeutic goals, pharmacological therapy can be administered using antidiabetic drugs. This research is an observational study involving retrospective data collection of outpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who used antidiabetic drugs. The prescribed antidiabetic drugs were then analyzed using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) and Defined Daily Dose (DDD) methods. Data on antidiabetic drugs were collected and entered into the Microsoft Excel program to calculate the DDD/1000 KPRJ value and the 90% Du segment. The results showed that there were 7 antidiabetic drugs used, namely glimepiride, gliquidone, gliclazide, metformin, acarbose, vildagliptin, and pioglitazone, with glimepiride having the highest DDD value of 445.92 DDD/1000 KPRJ and gliquidone having the lowest DDD value of 128.70 DDD/1000 KPRJ. Meanwhile, glimepiride and metformin were the antidiabetic drugs included in the 90% Du segment.

Abstract

One of the plants that can be thought to have antihyperlipidemic potential is water guava leaves (Syzygium aqueum) because they contain chemical compounds, one of which is flavonoids. The aim of this research is to determine the activity of 96% ethanol extract of water guava leaves (EEDJA) as an antihyperlipidemic agent. Male Wistar rats were induced using propylthiouracil (PTU) for 2 weeks (14 days). Hyperlipidemic mice were divided into 5 test groups, CMC-Na group, simvastatin group, EEDJA group (100, 200 and 400) mg/BW. The solution was given to mice routinely once a day for 2 weeks (14 days) orally. The results of the study showed that there were differences before and after administration of EEDJA (100, 200 and 400) mg/BW in LDL and HDL levels with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.005). The conclusion from this study is that EEDJA has potential as an antihyperlipidemic agent in male white Wistar rats
