Abstract

Aims: The incidence of emesis gravidarum is 14 % of all expectant women worldwide. In five European, American, and Australian jurisdictions, approximately 73.5 percent of pregnant women experience emesis. Up to 75 % of expectant women in Indonesia experience nausea and vomiting in the first trimester or early pregnancy. Several pharmacological and non-pharmacological actions can contribute to efforts to reduce the frequency of regurgitation. Non-pharmacologically, herbal plants, such as red ginger and peppermint leaves, are readily available. Methods : One-group, quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest design. This study's sample consisted of all 35 expectant women in the first trimester of PMB "E" from June to December 2022, and the sampling technique employed was a complete sample. Results : The average intensity of nausea and vomiting in first-trimester expectant women was 9.54 prior to consuming red ginger and mint leaves, and 5.46 afterward. Red ginger water and mint leaves are efficacious in reducing hyperemia gravidarum in first-trimester pregnant women (p-value = 0.000). Conclusions: Red ginger water and mint leaves are effective in reducing hyperemisis gravidarum in first-trimester expectant women. It is anticipated that the midwife will provide pregnant women with guidance on how to prepare a decoction of ginger and mint leaves to alleviate hyperemesis gravidarum.

Abstract

Aims: In 2020, the WHO estimated that as many as 295,000 women died during and after pregnancy and childbirth. Ninety percent of maternal deaths are caused by complications that arise during and after delivery, including hemorrhaging. Misoprostol, a prostaglandin analogue, is useful for treating postpartum hemorrhage for a number of reasons, including its efficiency, low cost, stability in heat, user-friendliness, and low risk of adverse effects. Oxytocin is a medication frequently used to induce labor. Methods : Quasi experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study were all 18 pregnant women who experienced postpartum hemorrhage at TPMB "I" in June-December 2022, the sampling technique was total sampling. Results : The average postpartum bleeding in laboring mothers before misoprostol and oxytocin was 406.39, and it was 141.67 afterward. Misoprostol and oxytocin are beneficial in reducing postpartum hemorrhage in TPMB "I" patients from June to December 2022 (p.value 0.000). Conclusions : There is an effectiveness of using misoprostol and oxytocin in postpartum hemorrhage. It is expected that midwives can provide services in normal delivery using misoprostol and oxytocin safely.

Abstract

Pendahuluan : Menurut WHO, hipertensi membunuh 9,4 juta orang di dunia setiap tahunnya. National Heart and Lung Institute memperkirakan bahwa 23 juta orang Amerika memiliki tekanan darah tinggi.

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia is one of the clinical conditions that can be found in many countries, particularly developing countries. The prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia is 37.1% with the highest in rural areas, namely 37.8%, and the lowest in urban areas, 36.4%.  Multifactors can influence anemia in pregnancy. Aims: This study aimed to determine the relationship between ANC visits, emesis gravidarum, and diet on anemia in pregnant women patients. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. The research was conducted at the Independent Practice Place of Midwife Rabiah, AM.Keb, Sentosa Village, The District of Seberang Ulu II, Palembang City, South Sumatra Province. The independent variables in this study were ANC visits, emesis gravidarum, and diet, while the dependent variable was anemia in pregnant women. Our study used the SPSS ver.25 program. This study conducted univariate and bivariate analysis. The bivariate used chi-square test. Results: Based on the chi-square test with CI = 95% obtained p-value <0.001 (P<0.05), a significant association between dietary patterns and anemia in expectant mothers at TPMB Rabiah, Am.Keb, Sentosa Village, Sebrang Ulu District, Palembang City, South Sumatra Province, 2023. Conclusion: This study showed a significant association between Antenatal Care visits, Emesis Gravidarum, and Diet against anemia in expectant mothers, which can be used as a source of information for expectant mothers.

Abstract

Background: Substance abuse among adolescent in Indonesia remains public health problem. The CRFFT is the most widely utilized high-risk drug screening tool. Its use in different countries and contexts shows its enormous potential. Although the CRAFFT has been utilized on occasion by professionals and researchers in Indonesia, no psychometric tests have been conducted to ensure that it works reliably in our country.  Objectives: This study aimed to examine the psychometric performance of the CRAFFT screening tool among Indonesian adolescents. Methods: Eighty adolescents aged 15–18 years, recruited from a drug rehabilitation facility in West Java, Indonesia, participated in the research. The CRAFFT instrument underwent a four-step translation and adaptation process. Content validity was assessed using Aiken’s V index. The factorial structure of the instrument was explored through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and subsequently verified with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Internal consistency reliability was evaluated using the Kuder–Richardson 20 (KR-20) coefficient. Results: CRAFTT CVI was 0.80–1.00 with the factor loadings for each of the three scales in the CRAFTT was 0.65–0.88. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for CRAFFT were as follows: I2 = 64.11, p-value = 0.121, and df = 78. Pearson correlation coefficients for the six different subscales ranged from 0.450 to 0.637. KR-20 coefficient of CRAFFT was 0.767. Corrected Homogeneity Index (CHI) ranged from 0.314 to 0.580. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrate that the CRAFFT instrument can serve as a practical and effective tool for identifying substance use issues among adolescents in Indonesia. Further investigations are recommended to examine its sensitivity and specificity in order to establish stronger evidence for the validity of the CRAFFT within this population.
