Abstract

The world uses all resources to meet daily electrical energy needs so that shortly, we will run out of ore/mineral/petroleum, a source of electrical energy. As a result, renewable energy solutions have reached the current great demand to save natural resources and solve the energy crisis. Solar energy is rapidly gaining notoriety as an essential means of expanding renewable energy resources. Solar panels are devices that cleanly convert sunlight into electricity and offer a practical solution to the problem of generating electricity in remote areas. Therefore, it is significant for those of us in electrical engineering to understand the technology associated with this field. The solar panel system must be maximized to make solar energy more feasible and efficient than fossil energy. An automatic sun position tracking or solar tracker is a viable approach to optimizing the efficiency of a solar panel system. A solar tracker is a system that controls the movement of solar panels so that they are always aligned with the sun's position. The solar tracker uses a dual-axis system to align the solar panels with the sun's position. By using a solar tracker, it is expected that the solar panel system will produce maximum output power.

Abstract

Kuliah Praktek dan Pengabdian Mahasiswa Universitas HKBP Nommensen melibatkan mahasiswa, masyarakat, pemerintah daerah, dan universitas, sehingga memberikan manfaat kepada keempat komponen tersebut. Bagi mahasiswa, pengabdian membantu mereka memahami persoalan masyarakat, mendewasakan cara berpikir, meningkatkan daya nalar, serta mengembangkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam mengaplikasikan ilmu di desa. Masyarakat memperoleh bantuan tenaga, pemikiran, dan edukasi yang mendukung pembangunan dan inovasi lokal. Pemerintah daerah mendapat informasi tentang potensi desa dan rekomendasi pembangunan yang didasarkan pada observasi mahasiswa. Bagi perguruan tinggi, pengabdian memfokuskan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, memperkuat kerjasama dengan pemerintah daerah dan masyarakat, serta berfungsi sebagai sarana pengabdian dan penyebaran ilmu pengetahuan bagi kepentingan masyarakat luas.

Abstract

Tumbuh sehatnya ternak ayam tergantung dari jaminan ketersediaan pakan pada wadah pakan. Ketersedian pakan harus dipantau dan dilakukan oleh peternak secara terus menerus yang sudah tentu akan banyak menyita waktu perternak, oleh sebab itu penelitian ini melakukan perancangan alat berupa prototipe yang dapat memberikan pakan secara otomatis baik secara terjadwal maupun berdasarkan ketersediaan pakan pada wadah. Alat ini menggunakan mikrokontroler sebagai pusat pengendalinya yang dapat dipantau dan dikendalikan secara jarak jauh dengan menggunakan IoT (Internet of Things) melalui aplikasi telegram pada smartphone android. Pengujian dari hasil rancangan alat ini berhasil berjalan dengan baik sesuai dengan rancangan, pakan pada pakan utama akan diisi secara otomatis  sesuai jadwal dalam 2 kali sehari atau atas perintah peternak melalui aplikasi telegram dengan persentasi kesalahan jumlah berat pakan untuk setiap kali pemberian pakan sebesar 4,29 %.

Abstract

The development of industrial automation requires learning media that are relevant to the needs of the world of work, particularly for mastering Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in vocational education. This study aims to develop a four-storey lift simulator based on Omron CP1E PLC as a learning medium for the Electric Motor Installation subject in class XII TITL at SMK Negeri 5 Medan. The research method used the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research population consisted of 31 students using a total sampling technique. Data were obtained from questionnaires validated by media and subject-matter experts, as well as from student responses. The results showed that the media received a feasibility score of 89.3% from media experts and 92.5% from subject matter experts, categorised as highly feasible, and a student response score of 88.3%, categorised as very good. These findings indicate that PLC-based lift simulators are effective in improving students' understanding, motivation, and practical skills in industrial automation systems. The study recommends further development by integrating IoT or HMI to more closely resemble real industrial systems.
