Abstract

This study describes the implementation of an independent learning-free campus and the obstacles encountered in implementing an independent learning-free campus at the department level. The research approach used is qualitative. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained from the research results were processed using qualitative descriptive data analysis. Implementing an independent learning-free campus at the department level begins with redesigning the curriculum and following the basic principles of an independent learning-independent campus. However, there are obstacles to implementing the independent study-free campus policy at the department level. First, the understanding of independent learning-an independent campus among lecturers and staff still needs to be cohesive and comprehensive. Second, the department needs to readjust the curriculum involving multiple stakeholders. Third, the availability of human resources. Fourth, the need for apprentice and entrepreneurial partners. Fifth, there is no particular unit that handles independent learning-independence campuses. Sixth, the learning process is less interactive. Lastly, socialization still needs to be carried out massively, especially in departments. Recommendations for these findings can be used as a basis for policymakers in implementing an independent learning-free campus.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the implementation of classroom management, identify supporting and inhibiting factors in classroom management, and understand the efforts to improve the quality of learning through classroom management. This qualitative study, conducted at SD Negeri Cigelam 2 in Serang, Banten, involves 5th-grade students and a teacher. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The study employs the Strauss and Corbin Model for data analysis. The findings indicate that classroom management has been effectively implemented, employing principles and approaches in the learning process. Supporting factors include conducive facilities, adequate learning resources, student preparedness, and school-community collaboration. Inhibiting factors encompass the transformative impact of the pandemic, limited resources, human resource constraints, lack of result analysis, varying student qualities, and disruptions. Strategies for improving learning quality through classroom management involve adapting learning materials, creating a comfortable classroom environment, implementing meaningful disciplinary actions, and maximizing teaching effectiveness. The study contributes to the literature by providing insights into the practical application of classroom management principles in an Indonesian elementary school setting.

Abstract

Despite extensive remuneration reforms in Indonesian Public Service Agency universities (PTN BLU), empirical evidence remains inconclusive as to whether financial incentives genuinely improve lecturer performance. Most prior studies emphasize satisfaction effects, leaving a gap regarding remuneration’s role as a performance driver once adequacy thresholds are met. Grounded in Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory and supported by the MARS Model, this study positions remuneration as a potential hygiene factor, ICT competence as an ability dimension, and prophetic leadership as a value-based determinant shaping role perceptions. A quantitative cross-sectional survey of 390 permanent lecturers was analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that remuneration has no significant direct effect on lecturer performance once perceived as adequate. In contrast, ICT competence exerts a strong positive influence (p < 0.001), and prophetic leadership shows a moderately significant effect (p < 0.001). The model explains 72.3% of the variance in performance. This study provides original empirical evidence that remuneration primarily functions as a hygiene factor in Islamic public higher education, highlighting the strategic importance of digital competence and value-based leadership beyond financial incentives.
