Abstract

Abstract: PT. X is a nut and bolt industry in Surabaya. PT. X treats their domestic wastewater in the Biofilter WWTP and uses it as water for sprinkling open spaces and green open spaces. This is interesting to learn because it can become material for study in domestic wastewater management systems in the industrial sector. The research method uses a qualitative data analysis approach with primary and secondary data sources. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results obtained are the existing conditions of water management, starting from the use of clean water to produce waste water, processing, utilization, and efficiency of waste water utilization. The processing produces recycled water which meets quality standards, so that it can be used as watering open spaces and green open spaces. The efficiency of domestic wastewater utilization reaches 99%, with the benefits obtained, namely being able to reduce the cost of purchasing clean water for irrigation and reduce the volume and load of pollutants in water bodies. Abstract

Limbah cair domestik merupakan sumber pencemar bagi perairan. Limbah ini mengandung bahan organik dan ammonia. Pengolahan biologis seperti biofilter aerob dapat digunakan untuk mendegradasi bahan organik dan amonia. Biofilter aerob akan dikombinasikan dengan aerasi intermittent untuk memaksimalkan proses nitrifikasi dan denitrifikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas proses pengolahan air limbah domestik menggunakan biofilter aerob yang dipadukan dengan aerasi intermittent untuk menurunkan parameter COD dan total nitrogen. Variasi yang digunakan ada dua yaitu jenis media dan rasio waktu aerasi intermittent.  Media yang digunakan berupa bioball dan bioring. Sedangkan rasio waktu aerasi intermittent yang digunakan yaitu 6,5:1,5 jam (6,5 jam oxic-1,5 jam anoxic); 6:2 jam (6 jam oxic-2 jam anoxic); 5,5:2,5 jam (5,5 jam oxic-2,5 jam anoxic); dan 5:3 jam (5 jam oxic-3 jam anoxic). Persentase penurunan COD dan total nitrogen paling optimum yaitu 83,3% dan 97,5% pada rasio waktu 6,5:1,5 jam dan 6:2 jam di dalam reaktor dengan media bioball.
