Abstract

The rise of clinical activities is one of the health care facilities that have the potential to pollute wastewater on organic compounds and especially pathogenic microorganisms. Technology in reducing organic and pathogenic content using combined ultraviolet filtration in wastewater treatment systems is one the effective method. Filtration uses activated carbon and silica with a variation of the ratio 2:3 and 3:2, while ultraviolet use a power variation of 9 watts and 15 watts. The results obtained are the best composition from the filtration process, which is a ratio of 2: 3 with the ultraviolet process using 15 watts using an exposure time of 5 hours with the remaining total coliform as much as 200 MPN/100mL. The results of this research have complied with the quality standards.

Abstract

Tofu industry produces the waste that contains a lot of organic substances. The waste is discharged into the environment without any treatment process, it will cause the environmental pollution. In Indonesia, tofu industries (the small-scale industry) mostly do not treat their waste due to the problem of the high cost treatment process. The purpose of this research is to know the effective and economically reasonable that can be used by tofu producers to process tofu waste, especially liquid waste so not damage the environment. Water treatment process using bacterial from waste water as medium seems promising to develop since it does need any bacteria starter or other media like glucose. The other reason is wastewater from food processing is more suitable for microorganism cultivation because its effluent contains significant beneficial nutrient and less of toxic compounds and harmful substances that interface with the growth of microorganism in same condition (pH and Temperature) in Acclimatization process can reach 83.2% after 7 days of treatment. After the detention time (18 hours) the results of COD number also greatly decrease with 2.5 hours recirculation at 12 L/min air and pH 3.7 and 4.5 it can reach 85% and 86% of removal COD.

Abstract

Pemantauan kualitas air sungai memberikan gambaran terhadap keanekaragaman Plankton dan benthos. Tujuan penelitian ini sebagai bahan evaluasi kualitas air badan air sungai disekitar PT. WXYZ. Terdapat tiga titik pengamatan yakni pada upstream, titik outfall air limbah dan downstream. Metode yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Hasil dari analisa yakni Jenis dan kelimpahan benthos pada lokasi sungai PT. WXYZ variasinya sangat rendah, yaitu 1 filum Annelida kelas Clitelata yang terdiri dari 1 spesies yaitu Tubifex sp. dengan kelimpahan 13 individu/mL. Indeks keanekaragaman (H’) benthos termasuk dalam kategori komunitas rendah; sedangkan indeks dominansi (D) benthos pada pertambakan ini lebih cenderung pada kondisi ada mendominasi jenis benthos tertentu. Plankton yang ditemukan di sungai PT. WXYZ ada 16 genus yang terdiri dari 14 genus fitoplankton yaitu Istmia, Fragillaria, Navicula, Pleurosigma, Placoneis, Diatoma, Cosmarium, Chlorella, Eudorina, Pyramimonas, Oscillatoria, Arthrospira, Spirulina, Vacuolaria, dan 2 genus zooplankton yaitu Favella dan Euglena. Rata-rata indeks keanekaragaman plankton di sungai PT. WXYZ, tergolong rendah. Tingkat pencemaran tergolong dalam tingkat pencemaran sedang yang ditunjukkan adanya jenis benthos dan plankton yang mampu hidup di lingkungan yang mengandung logam.

Abstract

Sounds that are not desired by the listener, where the sound can distract, interfere with activities, or cause danger during daily activities, can be called noise. Noise at a certain level originating from the sound of work tools in the production process can cause comfort and health to be disturbed. The lousy impact that often occurs if a person is exposed to noise for too long is the effect on hearing, which can cause deafness, but this can be controlled by using hearing protection equipment that will determine the amount of compensation value to be received by the surrounding community. The existence of the Landfill, which is often located in the middle of community settlements, has a direct impact, one of which is noise during every working hour of the Landfill's operations. One example of a Landfill that is still active today is the Klotok Landfill which is located in Pojok District, Kediri City. In this research, noise mapping was carried out to determine the pattern of noise distribution that occurs in the work environment. Making a noise contour map due to these activities will use a software called Surfer, which is a simple program to generate noise curves (noise contours) spatially the location of potentially hazardous areas. The result shows that activities at the Klotok Landfill have noise values ??ranging from 40 to 92 dB. The highest noise is in the location around landfill area 3, which is actively operating. The high noise level also can be found in the weighbridge, which is a place for transporting vehicles to pass. Evaluations at points 17, 18, and 19 indicated the need for protective wear, such as earmuffs or setting a break every 1.4, 3.6, and 2.2 hours for area workers.

Abstract

A research to model particulate emission was conducted in the plywood industry in Kendalrejo, Talun, Blitar Regency, East Java at an altitude of 273 masl. The industry already has an environmental pollution control unit, with an outlet through a chimney emitting an average emission of 0.14 g/s. The model simulation was carried out using AERMOD View software with data on wind direction and speed, solar radiation, temperature, clouds, and air pressure. The results show that the presence of the wood industry in Talun, Blitar Regency will have an impact on particulate emissions to areas in the east, southeast, west, and south, as the dominant wind direction. Dispersion modeling of particulate pollution with current conditions has resulted in dispersion with concentrations below the allowable limit in PP 22 of 2021. Modeling with several scenarios shows that the dispersion pattern can be maximized by increasing the chimney emission rate to 18 m/s, to minimize turbulence around the chimney and accelerate the reduction of particulate concentrations. Increasing the height of the chimney or increasing the diameter of the chimney will also affect the decrease in concentration in all directions so it becomes a recommendation that should be considered by the industry.

Abstract

Limbah minyak jelantah di Desa Mundusewu, Kecamatan Bareng, Kabupaten Jombang menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang perlu diperhatikan. Minyak jelantah merupakan minyak hasil penggorengan yang sudah tidak layak digunakan. Hal inilah yang menjadi ide Kelompok 06 KKN-T UPN Veteran Jawa Timur untuk membuat kegiatan Sosialisasi dan Pelatihan Pembuatan Sabun dari Minyak Jelantah yang di hadiri oleh para anggota PKK Desa Mundusewu dengan mendatangkan narasumber yang kompeten. Dalam kegiatan ini konsep zero waste industry di terapkan, yang terdiri dari Reduce (mengurangi), Reuse (menggunakan kembali) dan Recycle (mendaur ulang). Kegiatan yang dilakukan sebagai bentuk pengabdian mahasiswa Kelompok 06 KKN-T UPN Veteran Jawa Timur kepada masyarakat ini, nantinya akan menghasilkan suatu produk yang dapat dijual kembali oleh para warga desa setempat dan juga sebagai bentuk pengolahan limbah minyak jelantah yang tepat agar mengurangi pencemaran air.

Abstract

Kegiatan industri ialah salah satu penyebab utama meningkatnya pencemaran air limbah yang cukup besar. Air limbah industri dihasilkan dari aktivitas pekerja dan fasilitas penunjang yang harus diolah agar tidak mencemari lingkungan. Sistem biofilter anaerob-aerob merupakan salah satu cara dalam mengolah limbah domestik skala industri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mereduksi beban pencemar yang terkandung dalam air limbah sebagai upaya pemanfaatan air limbah domestik untuk kegiatan penyiraman. Wawancara, studi pustaka, observasi langsung, dan analisa input-output pengolahan limbah domestik merupakan metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini. Hasil reduksi pengolahan air buangan domestik berkisar 56,73-97,65% dan telah memenuhi baku mutu yang dipersyaratkan. Sehingga efisiensi pemanfaatan kembali air limbah domestik untuk kegiatan penyiraman mencapai 99%, dengan manfaat yang didapatkan antara lain mampu menekan biaya pembelian air bersih dan mengurangi volume serta beban pencemar pada badan air.

Abstract

Polusi emisi semakin meningkat dari waktu ke waktu. Hal ini terjadi karena banyak faktor, salah satunya adalah emisi gas yang berasal dari pabrik. Penelitian ini   membahas   tentang   pengolahan emisi gas industri besi dan baja dengan tujuan untuk menurunkan dan mengontrol kadar partikulat, SO2, NO2, dan opasitas agar tidak mencemari lingkungan saat dilepaskan ke udara bebas. Proses pengendalian partikulat emisi terdiri dari berbagai cara, beberapa yang sering digunakan dalam industri adalah unit wet scrubber dan bag filter.  Metode  yang digunakan  dalam penelitian  ini  adalah  studi pustaka alat pengendali emisi dan analisa input dan output pengolahan alat pengendali emisi. Operasional alat pengendali emisi berjalan selama 6 hari kerja, dengan efisiensi alat pengendali bag filter sebesar 75 % dengan kecepatan alir gas sebesar 10 m/s, dan alat pengendali wet scrubber dengan efisiensi sebesar 67% serta kecepatan alir sebesar 8,92 m/s. Penelitian ini diatur dalam skala industri, dengan jumlah alat wet scrubber sebanyak 2 unit dan bag filter 1 unit. Emisi yang sudah memenuhi baku mutu dapat dilepaskan ke udara bebas melalui cerobong atau chimney.

Abstract

One type of industry that can cause water pollution is the paper industry. In order to reduce liquid waste for the environment, waste water treatment is carried out. Bacteria are widely used for various food and non-food production processes. Filamentous bacteria or also called filamentous bacteria are the abnormal growth of certain bacteria, such as Escherichia coli. The type of research used for this research is research with quantitative methods. Quantitative research method is a type of research that has specifications in a structured, planned and systematic way, starting from the beginning to the manufacturing process of the research design. In this study, using the addition of 0.5% chlorine solution at a dose of 5 ppm, and using 5 days The parameter tests in the aeration tank: DO, pH, MLSS, SVI, Filamentous Microscopic Conditions and parameter tests in the effluent bath: DO, pH, TSS, COD, Turbidity. From the research that has been done, the results obtained in the aeration tank with the pH parameter having an average value of 8.02, DO having an average value of 6.31, MLSS with an average of 3586, and SVI of 135. Results in the effluent bath parameter pH has an average of 7.83,. DO has an average value of 3.04, turbidity has a value of 10.7-76 on the fifth day, COD value has an average value of 168, and TSS value has an average value of 121.5.

Abstract

The paper industry is one of the industries that can cause river pollution. The processing industry produced from this forest is a contributor to liquid waste which can harm the environment and the living things that live in it. So that an integrated treatment is needed to reduce the hazardous content of the waste that is disposed of. Bacteria is one way that can be used for non-food or food. Filamentous bacteria are the abnormal growth filaments of certain bacteria, one example of which is Escherichia coli. In this study, the quantitative research method was used. The chemicals used are by adding a 0.5% Hydrogen Peroxide solution at a dose of 4 ppm, and using 5 days. Also, the parameters tested in the aeration tank were DO, pH, MLSS, SVI, microscopic filamentous conditions and in the effluent bath, namely DO, pH, TSS, COD, turbidity. The results in the aeration tank with the pH parameter have an average value of 8.018, DO has an average value of 6.09, MLSS with an average of 3770, and SVI of 122. The results in the effluent bath with a pH parameter have an average of 7, 84. DO has an average of 4.13, turbidity has a value of 21.2-60.3 on the fifth day, COD value has an average of 123, and TSS value has an average value of 74.5.
