Abstract

Superficial dermatomycosis is a fungal infection of the skin, nail and hair. Based on the pathogen, this infection can be divided into dermatophytosis, phytiriasis versicolor and candidiasis. The rapid diagnosis for this infection is the key point to deliver the right theraphy. The supporting investigation for this infection can be performed directly using KOH. The KOH 20% solution has an indistict color contrast, that cause the fungal element seemed transparent. The observant expertise would be required for this case. The alternative method to enhance sensitivity and specificity of KOH is to add dyes such as Blue Black parker ink. The objectives of this research was to observe the sensitivity and specificity of KOH 20% + blue black parker ink in comparisson with KOH 20% method in superficial dermatomycosis. The research method was cross sectional design analitical obsevation with 30 research subjects. The samples were taken from superficial dermatomycosis lesion swabs. These samples were tested using KOH 20% solution and KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution in Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Hospital, Sepanjang and dr. Makmuri Clinics, Surabaya. The results demonstrated that the sensitivity of KOH 20% solution and KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution were 86.67% and 93.33%, respectively. The specificity of KOH 20% solution and KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution were 100% and 100%, respectively. It can be concluded from the research that KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution can be used for the routine diagnosis for superficial dermatomycosis due to the high sensitivity and specificity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is influence of temperature and storage time on vitamin C content in guava. This study is an experimental research menggunkan Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors and two repetitions. Of the two factors were obtained eight combinations of treatments. Each - each treatment was repeated twice, in order to obtain 16 replicates. The parameters used were vitamin C content in guava. Guava that has been stored in a specific time and temperature peel and blend until homogeneous to obtain slurry. Furthermore slurry disentrifuge guava and filtered. Filtrate obtained its vitamin C content determined by titration method Iodometri. Data obtained with ANOVA dinalisis. If there is any real difference followed by Least Significant difference test (LSD). Results showed that storage time and temperature affect the levels of vitamin C in guava fruit ripe. The longer the storage time and the higher the temperature the lower the vitamin C content. Vitamin C content in guava stored at room temperature for 10 days decreased by 46.35% and the cold temperature is only 39%.

Abstract

Aloe Vera merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman obat-obatan yang semakin populer, tidak hanya bermanfaat untuk kecantikan tapi juga untuk kesehatan. Tujuan dari artikel ini yaitu membahas kandungan yang terdapat pada Aloe Vera sebagai antiviral dan imunostimulan. Metode yang digunakan oleh penulis dalam artikel ini menggunakan metode studi pustaka/literatur review, dengan mengumpulkan beberapa sumber tertulis melalui pencarian data yang di akses melalui Google sholar dan Science direct. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukkan bahwa Aloe Vera mengandung senyawa aktif yang memiliki efek biologik yaitu Mucopolysaccharides (MPS) salah satunya adalah polisakarida Acemannan yang mengandung bahan aktif Acetylated mannose yang masuk dalam golongan sakarida dan mempunyai fungsi untuk meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh (immunostimulan). Selain itu  Aloe Vera memiliki kandungan antraquinon dan juga aloe emodin yang berfungsi sebagai antiviral untuk mencegah masuknya virus ke dalam tubuh. Berdasarkan hasil review artikel ini maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa  Aloe Vera bisa sebagai antiviral dan  immunostimulan karena memiliki kandungan Acemannan, antraquinon dan aloe emodin. Dengan mengetahui informasi ini diharapkan masyarakat bisa memanfaatkan Aloe Vera yang berada di lingkungan sekitar sebagai bahan pangan selama Pandemi Covid – 19.
