Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to examine a short film in terms of content and visuals. Even though a film is of short duration, it does not deny that there are many things that can be analyzed, including the content and visuals in the short film. The authors analyzed the Indonesian short film titled “Olak”, directed by Wishnu Hazmi Lazuardi (2018). This study uses a non-participant descriptive qualitative method, analyzing existing data from sources on the internet without direct contact with the participants that are included in the data. The authors analyzed this short film in the context of its content and visual appearance, particularly commenting on the significance of repeating the same scene in a time loop—as a commentary of the dynamics that occur in everyday lives of typical Indonesian teenagers.Keywords: short film, content analysis, visual analysis, social dynamics, teenage film.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSekolah Dasar Negeri Catur adalah sebuah sekolah dasar yang terletak di desa catur, kintamani. Ada beberapa hal yang ingin dibagikan oleh program kami kepada anak-anak di sd tersebut, salah satunya dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis, membaca, dan berbicara dalam Bahasa inggris tingkat kelas 6 SD. Sebagai pelajar kepercayaan diri sangatlah penting untuk menunjang proses pembelajaran, anak-anak sd desa catur perlu meningkatkan kepercayaan diri mereka dalam proses pembelajaran khususnya dalam Bahasa inggris. Permasalahan yang ditemukan adalah kendala dalam mempelajari lebih luas tentang bahasa inggris dan kurangnya rasa percaya diri anak untuk menunjang proses pembelajaran, mereka hanya mempelajari kosa kata dasar dan pada akhirnya kami dari Undhira Mengajar memberikan materi dalam upaya meningkatkan skill membaca kaliamat untuk mereka baca, jadi mereka dapat sekaligus melatih cara membaca, berbicara, dan menulis sekaligus mendapatkan kosa kata baru dan belajar dalam pembentukan pola kalimat yang sederhana dalam Bahasa inggris. Hasilnya anak-anak kelas 6 sd, mulai menumbuhkan rasa kepercayaan diri mereka dalam belajar Bahasa inggris dan belajar meningkatkan keterampilan menulis, membaca, dan berbicara dalam Bahasa inggris.Kata kunci: Sekolah Dasar Negeri Catur, bahasa Inggris, Desa Catur.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of figurative language in the song entitled "I See the Light"from the Disney movie "Tangled", focusing on semantic studies. In this context, the analysis offigurative language is conducted using the theoretical of Perrine's Theory (1969), which emphasizesunderstanding the formal elements in literature, including the expression of figurative language. Thisresearch method involves a descriptive qualitative analysis of the lyrics of the song "I See the Light",focusing on identifying and understanding the different types of figurative language used. In thecontext of Perrine's theory, the research explores how figurative language contributes to the overallmeaning and aesthetics of the song lyrics. The results of this study reveal five figurative languagescontained in the lyrics of the song "I See the Light" including; metaphor, simile, personification,imagery, and metonymy. The implications of this research can also help broaden the understandingof the application of Perrine's Theory in literary analysis involving audio-visual literary contexts suchas songs in animated films.
