Abstract

This descriptive research investigated the influence of the flap poster on students’ creativity in studying human respiratory system. Samples were 34 eight grade students in one of Private International Schools in Bogor, in which they were divided into experimental or control class, 17 students for each class. Qualitative data were obtained by using rubric and questionnaire. Results showed that experimental class students’ creativity was higher than control class students, in which this indicates that flap poster can facilitate students in developing their creativity. Furthermore, results also indicated that when the flap poster was implemented in learning Human Respiratory concept, experimental class achieved better results in every creativity dimension compared to control class.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry model to the creative thinking skill (KBKr) of students on practicum protein analysis. Creative thinking skills developed include flexibility, fluency and elaboration. The research method used was quasi experiment with non control equivalent pretest-postes design group. Research subjects involve Chemistry study program students in one State University in Bandung consisting of 18 students in the experimental class and 19 students in the control class. The instrument used is a 5 item description that measures KBKr and student worksheets. The data analysis was performed by determining the normalized t-gain standardized (N-gain) value with the help of SPSS 20 program for windows and Microsoft excel 2010. The result of N-gain average value analysis shows that there is a higher KBkr increase in students who follow lab With guided inquiry model compared to control class students with the distribution of KBKr being in the high and moderate category for the experimental group, and the moderate and low category in the control class. The statistical test of mean difference of KBKr with Mann-Whitney technique showed significant difference of student KBKr in the experimental class and control class on flexibility and fluid indicator. This suggests that the application of guided inquiry models can be used as an alternative model for increasing KBKr in biochemical learning.

Abstract

One of the 21st century skills that students need is creativity. Creativity in Indonesia is still lacking based on several previous studies. Therefore, learning innovations are needed that can increase student creativity, namely through STEM-based practicum learning. This STEM-based practicum learning integrates aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in practicum learning. This research aims to produce a STEM-based practicum design for making edible films from starch poured in worksheets. The research method used the DBR (Design Based Research) method. The steps of this research are: 1) Design of practicum design, 2) Optimization results of practicum design for making edible film from starch, 3) Analysis of the relationship between the curriculum on the topic of polymer with STEM and creativity aspects, 4) Analysis of the existence of practicum procedures for making edible films in high school chemistry books class XII, 5) Expert validation. The data collection technique is done by studying the literature, optimizing the experimental results of the practicum design and the results of validation. Data analysis was performed by calculating the percentage of each aspect and interpreting it in the validation criteria table and the result was 91% with very valid categories.
