Abstract

Taman Sari is the resting place of the King as well as a place of defense that was built during the reign of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I in the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. The area, which consists of several heritage buildings, has become one of the important sites in Yogyakarta in terms of supporting city tourism. The heritage atmosphere in the Taman Sari area is a special attraction that can attract tourists' interest. Taman Sari has a soundmark that has implications for the hearing experience of tourists, as well as supports the heritage atmosphere. Currently, the soundmark in Taman Sari is considered weak, thereby reducing the atmosphere felt by visitors. This study discusses the identification of sound behavior on the Taman Sari site, which aims to determine the location of the sound source that can affect the tourism atmosphere in the audial aspect. The methodology was based on the simulation of sound movement using Ecotect software. The dimensions and materials of the space enclosure are adjusted to the conditions at the location by mapping the type of material and the location of the existing voice identity. The simulation results will be analyzed in relation to the theory of sound distribution. Based on the analysis, it is known that softscape and hardscape elements affect the character of voice behavior in Taman Sari. The sound behavior found at the location is the sound reflection which partially produces echoes and direct sounds that can be heard by tourists in various segments. The results of this study are expected to enhance the tourist experience at cultural heritage sites through improving the quality of the area's audial aspects.

Abstract

For most people, fashion and lifestyle are two things that cannot be separated. Dressing is not just to cover the body, but it can symbolize someone's personality and identity. Therefore, fashion manufacturers competing to bring innovations to their products so that they can attract more people. One of the innovations in the field of fashion is ecoprint and shibori, which emphasizes the use of natural dyes in the manufacturing process. With the phenomenon of environmental pollution, this technique becomes more popular because it promises an environmentally friendly on its process.  Not only from processing techniques, innovation also needs to be done on the design of the product. Design remains one of the main considerations of consumers in buying a product, including fashion products. This study was conducted during the Workshop of Design Composition for motif and fashion Improvement, initiated by Faculty of Architecture and Design UKDW collaborated with Paroki Keluarga Kudus Banteng dan PEJ GKJ Pakem Yogyakarta. Abstract

Title: Study of Space Changing and Soundmark in Tamansari Heritage Tourism Area, Yogyakarta Tamansari area is an area of historical value. Until now, this region has been conserved and used as a heritage tourism. The Tamansari site, which has not been used anymore since the reign of Sultan Hamengkubuwono III, has caused the growth of residential areas around it. This causes a change in the solid void of the Tamansari area. Changes in the existing building structure create differences in the soundscape of the area that was once the location of the palace retreat and is now a heritage tourism area. In this study will discuss the changes that occur in the mass management of buildings in the Tamansari area that will affect the environmental acoustics of the area. This research method uses qualitative deductive method by comparing the shape of the space during the active period of the building as the resting of the Keraton family with the current building mass discussed with the theory of space and acoustic environment. The results of this study are changes in ground figures and linkages showing changes in the soundmark of the Tamansari area. Changing ground figures make the impact of increasingly diverse activities appear. Soundmark changed from the dominant calm voice to the nois dominant. The soundmark area changes from sounds that support a sacred atmosphere with sounds that are due to building density. This change in soundmark creates a change of sense of place from the Tamansari area.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The current architectural space design considers land limitations, technology, and sustainability. Efficient spaces, where space is limited, have various activities and users. The problem of limited space, where various activities and technologies exist, raises the need for space negotiation between users so that a multifunctional room is formed. The open plan office is seen as a case study showing the problem of limited space and the need for technology-related activities (online meetings). Employees in this office often need a private room for online meetings, resulting in acoustic problems that cause disruption of concentration and productivity among room users. Searching for recommendations for designing portable soundproofing products that use natural materials as the framework is the aim of this research. A quantitative approach using experimental methods was used in this research. This study recommends portable soundproofing products with bamboo construction and soundproofing layers that can be folded, moved, and stored easily. This panel considers the design principles of today's architectural spaces and was tested using a simple experimental method in the laboratory by measuring the reduced sound level at five frequencies (125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz). Acoustic experimental tests were conducted by comparing bamboo panels covered with mounting paper and panels without coating. The results found that portable bamboo panels with layers can reduce sound levels up to 16.3 dB from 125 Hz to 2000 Hz.
