Abstract

Jatisura Village has very strong agricultural and plantation potential and has adequate Natural Resources to be planted with various crops and produce promising agribusiness prospects. However, this indicates the constraints of an inadequate communication network between farmers and sellers of crops because the hierarchical network of rice, fruit and vegetable trade is too complex. Through the analysis of the communication network here with a qualitative approach, it was found that the connection between farmers and other farmers and also the relationship with middlemen, of course, farmers must be members of the Association of Farmer Groups (GAPOKTAN) and also between farmer group agents have a communication network that is so dense and provides positive measurements so that communication attachments between farmer group agents are always established and mutual communication occurs. The existence of middlemen becomes dependent on farmers so that this expands the distribution of the trade network of crops from Jatisura Village. Abstract

The boycott movement against multinational food and beverage (F&B) brands, particularly McDonald's, KFC, and Starbucks, has emerged as a significant form of consumer activism in response to the Israel–Palestine conflict. This study aims to examine the influence of media exposure and social boycott movements on public perceptions and consumer boycott behavior through the perspective of Cognitive Dissonance Theory. The research employed a quantitative explanatory design using a survey method with structured questionnaires administered to respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and factor analysis to identify the dominant determinants influencing public participation in the boycott movement. The findings indicate that media exposure and social boycott campaigns significantly shape public perceptions, which subsequently encourage changes in consumer behavior toward boycott participation. Factor analysis extracted five principal factors that collectively explained 68.066% of the total variance, indicating that the proposed model adequately represents the dimensions of boycott behavior. The most influential indicator was respondents' participation in boycott actions based on media information (loading = 0.814), followed by actively seeking updated information about products perceived to support Israel (loading = 0.804). These findings demonstrate that persuasive communication, digital information dissemination, and collective participation are the primary determinants of consumer boycott behavior. The study confirms the relevance of Cognitive Dissonance Theory in explaining how inconsistencies between consumers' moral values and purchasing behavior encourage behavioral change through ethical consumption. This research contributes to the literature on consumer behavior, digital activism, and ethical consumption by highlighting the strategic role of social media in shaping public perceptions and mobilizing collective action in humanitarian issues.

Abstract

General Background: Digital media has become a major arena for public protest, collective expression, political participation, and hashtag-based social movements. Specific Background: The #IndonesiaGelap movement emerged on social media as a public response to government regulations and policies perceived as unfavorable to society, and it circulated through platforms such as Twitter and TikTok. Knowledge Gap: The manuscript states that previous literature had not positioned #IndonesiaGelap as the main research object, while studies combining social movement analysis with network and survey approaches to identify negative communication remained limited. Aims: This study aimed to examine the distribution of information and communication networks around #IndonesiaGelap, identify actor roles, and analyze negative communication, hoax, and hate speech patterns using Network Society theory. Results: The study found that the social media network functioned as persuasive communication through unfiltered information and hate speech circulation. Actor networks appeared centralized, with driving actors forming sub-networks and anomalous accounts emerging within supporting clusters. Analysis of 64,816 comments on X showed 81% negative sentiment, 13% neutral sentiment, and 6% positive sentiment, with anger dominating negative comments at 22,482 comments. Novelty: The study focuses on #IndonesiaGelap through big data-based network analysis combined with survey logic. Implications: The findings support more transparent policy communication, dialogue-based governance responses, and deeper analysis of digital opinion leaders in contemporary social movements. Highlights: Big data mapping showed clustered actor roles and subgroups. Unfiltered information and hate speech circulated across platforms. Anomalous accounts appeared within supporting subclusters. Keywords: Social Movement, #Indonesiagelap, Social Network, Government Regulation
