Abstract

The increase in the use of digital media by adolescents, which affects the way they express themselves and form social bonds, is a key driver of this study. The topic studied was the extent to which adolescent self-disclosure on social media affects interpersonal communication in the digital age. The purpose of this study is to understand the forms, factors, and impact of adolescent self-disclosure in digital interactions. Eight adolescents between the ages of 18 and 24 and a communication expert from the city of Denpasar participated in a qualitative study using phenomenological methods. In-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies were used to collect data. Research shows that teens selectively disclose personal information by considering the boundaries of privacy, emotional closeness, and trust.  Self-disclosure helps increase interpersonal trust and foster positive social relationships. In conclusion, adolescent self-disclosure in the digital era is a form of adaptation of modern interpersonal communication that emphasizes the balance between social obligations, self-expression, and self-control.

Abstract

The branding “Badung The Soul of Bali” was introduced as a unified tourism identity; however, its implementation reveals contradictory patterns and uneven representation across regions. This study aims to analyze how government-led tourism communication operates through visual, marketing, and managerial dimensions, while identifying perceptual gaps between the ideal image promoted and the actual experiences of tourists. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through in-depth interviews with government actors, tourism industry operators, and domestic and international tourists, supported by digital content observation and source triangulation to strengthen data validity. The findings highlight several striking contradictions. International tourists perceived the official logo as a “general Bali branding” rather than a representation of Badung, indicating weak destination differentiation. Premium hotels also refrained from using the logo, arguing that it does not align with their luxury-oriented visual identity. In marketing communication, official government content performed significantly worse than traveler-generated videos; despite showcasing the same attractions, traveler content achieved much higher engagement due to its authenticity, emotional appeal, and personal storytelling. At the managerial level, the stark disparity between South Badung and North Badung created a destination image gap, where the harmonious identity promoted through branding does not match on-site realities, generating the risk of over-promising. This study recommends developing a dedicated sub-branding for North Badung to authentically represent its distinct landscape and cultural characteristics. Furthermore, the government is advised to provide collaborative incentives for hotels and tourism businesses that adopt the “The Soul of Bali” logo, thereby strengthening stakeholder coordination and ensuring greater alignment between the communicated image and the destination reality.

Abstract

The development of agricultural technology is an important need to address the challenges of food sustainability, the low interest among the younger generation, and farmers' skepticism towards technological innovation. This community service activity was carried out in Buleleng Regency by developing agritourism-based smart farming as a means of agricultural technology education through the Wiwanda Agrow Independent Agriculture and Rural Training Center. The activity was carried out using a participatory approach, which included identifying partner needs, installing and integrating Internet of Things-based smart farming systems, functional testing and calibration, development of educational facilities and materials, training and assistance for farmers, and the implementation of educational tours for the community and students. The results of the activity show that the implemented smart farming system functions optimally in supporting monitoring and cultivation management, increases farmers' understanding and trust in technology, and serves as an effective learning medium for the younger generation. The integration of agritourism allows agricultural technology to be used not only for production but also as a vehicle for education and dissemination of innovation in a sustainable manner. Overall, this activity proves that the agritourism-based smart farming model can be an effective approach to encourage the adoption of agricultural technology, strengthen farmer regeneration, and support food security in the future, while creating sustainable partnerships between universities and communities, permitted to use abbreviations except for units of a quantity and use them to a minimum.
