Abstract

An article titled “Yesus dan Roh Kudus” written by Rita Wahyu and published on the website “Sarapan Pagi Biblikal” became highly controversial in 2021, particularly regarding her interpretation of the text in Matthew 1:20. The article contains elements of Modalism, Modalistic Monarchianism, or Sabellianism, which teach about the Oneness of God, meaning that God has one nature and one person with three names: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Rita emphasizes her thesis on the preposition ἐκ in the text, which she believes should be interpreted as “of” in English, indicating that the child in Mary’s womb is the Holy Spirit. However, research on the preposition ἐκ in Matthew 1:20 using exegetical methods based on Biblical grammatical laws shows that Rita’s interpretation lacks a basis that can be sustained exegetically. Her interpretation of the preposition is eisegesis, not exegesis. From an exegetical standpoint, the preposition ἐκ in the text indicates the source or origin of the child; the cause or agent of Mary’s pregnancy; and/or the giver of the seed of the baby in Mary’s womb, namely the Holy Spirit.

Abstract

The implementation of Christian Education must be based on correct theological principles, so as not to deviate from Bible truth, and glorify the Lord Jesus, the giver of the task of Christian Education itself. One of the main and important texts on this subject is Matthew 28:16-20 which is known as the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus for all believers, and the task of teaching part of it. Therefore, it is very important to understand the principles of Christian Education theology according to this text. Based on the exegesis study of Matthew 28:16-20, several Christian Education theological principles are put forward in it, namely: (1) Actors of Christian Education must have a loyal character, and be taught about the Bible first so they have teaching skills later; (2) The content or material taught in Christian Education is the teachings of the Lord Jesus; (3) Christian Education must be carried out by all believers, namely they have all the conditions in the first point; (4) Christian Education must function as a means of discipling every new believer (new disciple) to mature their faith; (5) Christian Education must be given to all believers of all ages; (6) Christian Education is the task from the Lord Jesus, the Owner of all power in heaven and on earth, therefore, it is a task that must be carried out; (7) Christian Education must aim to form every believer to become obedient to the teachings of the Lord Jesus; (8) Christian Education actors will be accompanied by the Lord Jesus; (9) Christian Education must be carried out on the basis of the authority of the Lord Jesus.

Abstract

God is fully sovereign over the life of His people and He allows everything happening naturally in everyday man experience. But it will be real when examined more deeply, that in all the events of this life, God works to achieve His plan. Practically-theologically, the law about go’el in Israel's history is showing about the love and care of God in the Israel’s life, His people and proof of God's loyalty to His promises and plans. As go’el Boas also had to take Ruth to be his wife in order to uphold the name of the dead person, namely Mahlon, Ruth's husband, through the son who was born to Ruth from Boaz. Thus the name of Mahlon did not disappear from among the Israelites.
