Abstract

Damage to the liver can cause disruption of metabolism in the body, so a hepatoprotector is needed as a protector from liver damage which can be obtained from jamblang plants. The aim of this research is to know the content of active compounds contained in jamblang plants which work as hepatoprotectors. By reviewing some of the literature related to this, the results obtained were 10 articles used. In this study using Literature Review Article through electronic data sources, namely: Google Scholar, ScienceDirect and Pubmed which were published 10 years ago with the keywords: Syzygium cumini (L) and hepatoprotector. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the jamun plant contains the compounds β-sitosterol, friedelin, Betulinic acid, flavonoids, terpenes, alkaloids, phenolics, ellagic acid, glucoside, anthocyanins, kaempferol, quercetin, isoquercetin, myricetin, tannins, carbohydrates, albumin, and so on which can be used as antiviral, cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, carminative, antihypertensive, anti-atherosclerotic, antifungal, antioxidant and hepatoprotector. It can be concluded that the active compounds that work as hepatoprotectors are the chemical compounds flavonoids and β-sitosterol which are located in the fruit seeds and leaves.

Abstract

Beekeeping is the science and art of prolonging and maintaining health by using products obtained from honeycombs, such as honey, bee bread, bee pollen, propolis, and royal jelly. Currently, many studies are devoted to investigating the directed health benefits and fermacological properties of bee products due to their properties. One of the studies conducted was research on royal jelly. Royal jelly is widely used as a dietary nutritional complex to help combat various chronic health conditions, besides, it is one of the beneficial medicines for humans in both traditional and modern medicine. The aim of this research is that many fermacological activities such as antibacterial, antitumor, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects are associated with it. Royal jelly consists of water (50%-60%), protein (18%), carbonate (15%), ipid (3%-6%), mineral salts (1.5%), and vitamins. Based on modern spectrometric analysis, about 185 organic compounds have been detected in royal jelly.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that is rich in a variety of natural resources, one of which is animal. Therefore, the isolation of gelatin from various other types of animals began to be developed. Gelatin is the result of the decomposition of animal protein which has found many functions in both the food and pharmaceutical fields. Gelatin is used as a stabilizer, gelling agent, binder, thickener, and emulsifier. The method used is to search for research journal literature through electronic databases such as Google Schoolar and Sciene Direct. The results of several studies show that gelatin has water content, ash content, protein content and fat content with several different animal raw materials.
