Abstract

The Quality Control Group of Midwife Professional Study Program makes maximum efforts in carrying out its main tasks and functions as well as quality control in every lesson in the study program. The obstacle faced is the absence of clinical clerkship evaluation activities by field preceptors on the learning process carried out in study programs through relevant measuring instruments in the form of questionnaires. The purpose research is to create   documented, can be analyzed and followed up As an effort to improve and improve sustainable quality. Type of research is cross-sectional approach. This study used total sampling with respondents from all field preceptors in the practice area of ​​the Health Center, Independent Midwife Practice and network hospitals in the Midwife Professional Education Study Program with a total of 21 respondents. The results of the validity test on the research questionnaire items were 0.001 so all questionnaire items were declared valid. The results of the questionnaire reliability test were > 0.8 so the reliability was very good. The results of average value of the field preceptor on the assessment of the application of the theory are 84.69%, and the assessment of lecturer and student interactions is 78.91%. Furthermore, the assessment of the preparation for clinical clerkship activities was 88.10% the assessment of students regarding clinical clerkship activities was 75.89%. The results of the overall assessment are categorized as very good so that they can be used as a reference for improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

The quality of academic services can affect students' satisfaction at the university. The aim of this study was to evaluate students' satisfaction with the academic services provided by lecturers in the bachelor of midwifery study program. A descriptive design was utilized in this study. The population was active Bachelor of Midwifery students, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, in 2022, using a sample of 191 respondents with purposive sampling. Indicators of students' satisfaction with academic services included reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles. Data was collected using a ten-item questionnaire developed by the researchers with a Likert scale (1-4). This study was conducted in October 2022 using an online form. The respondents' level of achievement was in the fairly satisfactory category. The empathy indicator had the highest average TCR value among other indicators and was within the satisfied category. This research may give insight into providing opportunities for faculty management, especially study programs, to overcome weaknesses in the offered services and ensure better academic service quality. In addition, this research will stimulate more research attention on how the quality of academic services by academic supervisors can give better satisfaction to students.

Abstract

Case-based learning is commonly used in various settings, including the medical field. This study aims to determine the effect of case-based learning video on learning motivation among midwifery students. This was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test approach. This study was conducted at the Bachelor of midwifery study program, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University from August to October 2021. Forty-nine student midwives were selected through total sampling technique. Demographic information and motivation data were collected using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Descriptive statistics, ANOVA/Kruskal-Wallis test, and Paired T-Test/Wilcoxon Rank-sum test were applied to analyze the data. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. This study reported no significant differences between age and the MSLQ value components. Nonetheless, significant differences were found between parents' income with intrinsic motivation (p equals 0.012), task value (p equals 0.044), and self-efficacy (p equals 0.02). Furthermore, there was a significant difference between intrinsic motivation and residence (p equals 0.012) among the other value components. The mean scores for all value components of motivation increased after the case-based learning video intervention. Two value components (task value and efficacy) showed a significant difference (p-value 0.026 and 0.000). In conclusion, case-based learning video effectively improved motivation among students. Such finding is essential to developing suitable learning method for students.

Abstract

Community midwifery is a midwifery service that emphasizes the psychosocial and cultural aspects of the community. This activity was carried out in RW 03 in the Lambung Bukit Village, Pauh District, Padang City through the Community Midwifery and Family Oriented Midwifery Education approach. Data were obtained which were the main problem that occurred in the Batu Busuk area community. inaccurate and waste disposal in ditches/rivers), skin diseases which are mostly suffered by toddlers and children and there is still a lack of variety in choosing the type of Family Planning (KB) method by couples of childbearing age (PUS) which is limited to the choice of Injectable KB methods and Pill. As a form of problem solving, interventions are carried out in the form of extension activities related to the problems found. The purpose of this activity is as a preventive and promotive effort in the form of midwifery services by involving community participation. The method used in prioritizing the problems found is using the weighting method, which is the process of assigning values ​​to selected problems to compare a criterion with other criteria by looking at the weight value. The conclusion of this activity is the implementation of counseling that can increase knowledge and change people's behavior so that they care more about clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), know variations in choosing family planning methods and can ultimately improve the health status of the community as a whole.

Abstract

One of the efforts to improve the quality of midwives in order to be able to provide maternal and neonatal services quickly and appropriately by applying Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to midwifery students. Considering that EBP is a concept in the academic field of midwifery is considered the backbone of quality clinical care. This study aims to determine the practice and use of EBP in midwifery students in the city of Padang, West Sumatra. This study uses a cross-sectional method, uses an online questionnaire Google Forms and is distributed to students through social media to midwifery students whose campus is located in Padang City. The results of the study were from 83 respondents, who had a good level of knowledge in the use of EBP as many as 9 respondents (10.8%), 58 respondents (69.9%), and 16 respondents (19.3%) with a low level of knowledge. As for student attitudes, 49 respondents (59%) had a positive attitude and 34 respondents (41%) had a less supportive attitude in implementing EBP, for practical readiness as many as 14 respondents (16.9%) had high readiness, 60 respondents (72.3%) were in the category of quite ready, and 9 respondents (10.8%) were in the category of not ready in the implementation of EBP. So that it can be concluded that the level of knowledge of midwifery students in the city of Padang in implementing EBP is good and students have a positive attitude and an overview of the readiness of student practice in the category is quite ready.

Abstract

Higher education life with adjustments to the campus environment can trigger stress on students. College students are a group of individuals who are prone to experiencing homeostatic imbalances due to stress that comes from academic demands. The type of research used in this research is an analytic survey with a cross approach-sectional. The research location is the Midwifery Institute in Padang City. The population in this study were all midwifery students who had attended clinical clerkships in practice areas such as hospitals, health centers and midwifery independent practices. In this study, the sampling technique used is the sampling method consecutive sampling with a sampling determination technique in which all subjects who come and meet the selection criteria are included in the study until the required number of subjects is met. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the results show that there is an intermediate effect coping strategies to psychological distress in midwifery students in the city of Padang. By type coping, type emotional focused coping and avoidance coping influence psychological distress, where as problem focused coping not found to affect psychological distress. Emotional focused coping and avoidance coping is a form coping strategies most used by students against psychological distress experienced.
