Abstract

Prospective biology teachers need to be well prepared, not only in terms of biology content but also their teaching skills, including lesson study. This study aims to developing a biology lesson study book based on scientific approach. The research method used is research and development by adopting the ADDIE model. The research instrument used was a questionnaire to measure the responses of experts, teachers and students to the quality of the book. This research also pays attention to qualitative (suggestions and comments) and quantitative data. The results showed that the book was considered feasible by experts. Teacher and student responses also showed a positive impact on the use of the book. The test results also showed an increase in learning outcomes. So, the book can be used in classroom learning.

Abstract

This study was conducted to develop contextual-based assessment tool to measure science process skill. The research subjects were (1) 2 expert validators in microbiology material; (2) 3 expert validators in evaluation and assessment; (3) 2 expert validators in science process skills; (4) 2 lecturers teaching microbiology; and (5) 60 biology students from the Biology Education Program, FMIPA, State University of Medan, in their 8th semester. The aim of this research was to develop a contextual-based authentic assessment tool to measure students' science process skills in microbiology that is empirically valid. This development research used the 4-D development model, consisting of defining, designing, developing, and distributing stages. However, the distribution stage was not conducted in this study. The development procedure started with: (1) initial analysis; (2) designing the authentic assessment tool; (3) validating, testing readability, and conducting a limited field test of the authentic assessment tool. The instruments used were validation sheets and questionnaires for the responses of lecturers and students. Data were collected by means of validation results and questionnaires, and were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results of the validation of the developed contextual-based authentic assessment tool in microbiology showed that, from the material aspect, it received a percentage of 92.79% (very good) by material expert validators, from the evaluation and assessment aspect, it received a percentage of 93.75% (very good) by evaluation and assessment expert validators, and from the science process skills aspect, it received a percentage of 97.22% (very good) by science process skill expert validators. The readability test conducted by the microbiology lecturers resulted in a percentage of 94.94% (very good), and the limited field test conducted on 60 students resulted in a percentage of 91.19% (very good) Key words: authentic assessment, science process skill, contextual assessment   ASBTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan perangkat penilaian berbasis kontekstual untuk mengukur keterampilan proses sains..

Abstract

This study used an ex-post facto research methodology with a descriptive approach to assess the learning habits of biology education students at Universitas Jambi in regards to 'Work Method' and 'Delay Avoidance'. The study demonstrated similar levels of proficiency (satisfactory), with 'Work Method' scoring a 75.00% and 'Delay Avoidance' slightly reaching a score of 75.70%. These data indicated that there is a dependable yet enhanceable basis in learning habits. The study highlights the need of employing educational practices that promote organized learning and efficient time management, with the goal of enhancing students' learning habits and academic progress.

Abstract

Biology is an abstract, elusive science, one of which is respiratory material. It requires a media that can visualize objects on a two-dimensional book of biology to a three-dimensional one with a learning video. Research aims to develop, describe kal, and describe the teacher's assessment and student response to the results of the product developed. This research and development using model 4D consists of define, design, foresight, and develop ate. The result of this realization is the production of a medium of pocket books and apps downloaded on android smartphone platforms, able to present in real, tangible, three-dimensional objects to respiratory matter. The media was declared worthy by the validator of materials and media experts with an average rating score on final validation at 84.68% and 93.17%. Trials in the field as practical tests were obtained an assessment result from teachers by 85.36%, student responses of small groups and large groups are 86% and 83.65%. Also, it is also noted that a media pocket book and applications using this augmented reality technology are worthy to be used by students in studying the human respiratory system for grade 11th  MIPA SMAN 1 Kota Jambi.
