Abstract

This study was conducted to explain students' ability to solve mathematical problems in Class VIII through problem-based learning (PBL) simulation in SMP Negeri 14 Merangin during the 2022/2023 school year. I did it. This training has proven to be better than traditional teaching methods. We use an experimental approach with a quantitative approach and a post-test study design. The subjects of this studys were all Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 14 Merangin for the 2022/2023 school year, a total of 67 students. All samples were from experimental class VIII A and control class VIII B. In the study, the researchers used a simple random sampling technique. Testing is used as a data collection method and t-test is used as a data analysis method. Analysis of the data shows that the mean score of students in the sample class using the problem-based learning model is 14.08, while the mean score of the control class is 12.45. Therefore, based on the hypothesis result, tcount is greater than ttable which is 2.3582≥1.6802 at a significance level of 0.05, then Ho is rejected. High is acceptable. The conclusion of this study is that the mathematical problem solving ability of SMP Negeri 14 Merangin VIII students studying using a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the 2022/2023 academic year is significantly lower than that of students studying using traditional teaching methods. In other words, they were better than the students who were given the test.

Abstract

The background of this study is students who are less interested in learning mathematics which has an impact on understanding mathematical concepts and mathematical conundrum-solving skills of the class IX pupils from Merangin One Roof 1 Public Middle School in the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The purpose of this study is to explain the connection or significance between a desire to learn and awareness of mathematical concepts and The ability of SMP Negeri pupils in class IX to solve mathematical problems One Roof 1 Merangin. This study involved 3 variables, namely interest in learning as the variable that is independent and the understanding of mathematical concepts and ability to solve mathematical problems as the dependent variable. In this investigation, the population consisted of class IX pupils at One Roof Middle School Public 1 Merangin for the academic year 2022–2023. The method of sampling made use of a total sampling method, namely all students in class IX consisting of 1 class totaling 30 pupils—data gathering with tests and survey methods. The instrument use was in the form of 34 statement items, 1 item about understanding mathematical concepts, and 1 item about mathematical problem-solving ability. Data analysis utilized to evaluate the theory employs the Pearson product-moment correlation technique, to test the significance using the Z-test, followed by the determining coefficient formula to express the size of the contribution With relation to variable Y from data analysis reveals that Z_count> Z_table or 2.202 > 1.960, after which H_0 is turned down and H_1 is approved. meaning that A strong correlation exists between learning interest understanding of mathematical concepts and the capacity for solve quantitative problems kids in class IX of One Roof Public Middle School 1 Merangin for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

This research is research and development (R&D) which aims to produce a mathematics pocket book that is valid, practical and effective. The development model used is 4D. This problem-solving-based mathematics pocket book was validated by 5 material, language and media expert validators. The product validator from the research results is known from the validation sheet, Practicality using a practicality questionnaire instrument and student interview sheets about product practicality. Meanwhile, effectiveness is seen from student activities and student learning outcomes. The results of data analysis show that the average validation score for material experts is 4.7 in the very valid category, Indonesian language experts are 4.6 in the very valid category, media experts are 4.78 in the very valid category, and teacher validation is 4. 87 in the very valid category. very valid. The average overall validator score is 4.74 in the very valid category. The percentage of responses to the practicality questionnaire was 83.75% in the very practical category. The average percentage of student activity was 89.85% in the very effective category and the percentage of effectiveness in learning outcomes was 80.8% in the effective category. It can be concluded that the problem solving-based mathematics pocket book developed is valid, practical and effective. A mathematics pocket book based on problem solving can be used in the mathematics learning process of algebra material for class VIII students. The distribution was given to mathematics teachers and all class VIII students
