Abstract

Stunting is a chronic deficiency in nutritional status during a child's growth and development period determined from the Z-Score value of body length for age (PB/U) or height for age (TB/U) <-2 SD. Environmental health from the aspect of poor sanitation and hygiene will trigger digestive disorders which impact nutrition for growth and turn into the body's resistance to infection, thereby risking stunting in toddlers. Implementation of community service is designed in the form of planning service activities, creating health promotion information media, preparing supporting materials and arranging field activities, implementing service activities, and evaluating activities. The results of the service show the level of success that was carried out well and successfully. There is an increase in the level of knowledge of respondents regarding the prevention of infectious diseases through personal hygiene sanitation efforts. This can be seen from the results of the pre and post-test evaluations carried out where the average score of respondents' pre-test results was 87 which increased to 100 when the post-test was carried out. It is recommended that this service model can be implemented for different targets and locations. It is recommended that health workers provide outreach with practical and effective educational methods related to sanitation and hygiene so that the public can understand the importance of maintaining a healthy environment to avoid the occurrence of infectious diseases that have an impact on stunting.

Abstract

The ethnopharmacological approach and One Health framework offer a novel perspective with significant potential in controlling rabies cases in East Nusa (NTT), Indonesia. Traditional medicines rooted in local knowledge can complement existing prevention and treatment strategies. This descriptive study involved 20 respondents to explore local practices related to rabies treatment. The findings indicate that integrating ethnopharmacological insights with the One Health approach can contribute significantly to rabies control, particularly in Kualin Subdistrict, South Central Timor Regency, NTT. The study identified local practices, analyzed their integration with modern medical interventions, and educated the community about rabies prevention. These results highlight the importance of incorporating ethnopharmacological knowledge into public health programs while promoting cross-sectoral collaboration in human, animal, and environmental Health. Further research is needed to evaluate the efficacy of medicinal plants used by the community. Additionally, developing community-based educational programs and strengthening collaborations between the government, non-governmental organizations, and local communities are crucial for creating effective and sustainable strategies for rabies control in NTT.

Abstract

Completeness of measles immunization is effective in preventing transmission of measles so that its coverage needs to be increased. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to the status of completeness of measles immunization in children under five in Naikolan Village. This type of research was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The research sample was mothers with toddlers aged 24-35 months who live in the Naikolan Village area, with a sample size of 54 people, who were selected by purposive sampling technique. The variables studied included the mother's level of knowledge, mother's occupation, income, husband's support, health worker support, and measles immunization completeness status. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. The results showed that the p-value for each factor was mother's level of knowledge = 0.484, mother's occupation = 0.176, income = 1.000, and husband's support = 0.413, support from health workers = 0.006. Furthermore, it was concluded that the factor associated with the completeness status of measles immunization was the support of health workers. It is hoped that health workers at the Sikumana Health Center and Naikolan Pustu will improve the quality of services, especially in providing service support for mothers who have children under five to complete the status of measles immunization in children under five in Naikolan Village. Keywords: immunization; measles; toddler; health workers ABSTRAK Kelengkapan imunisasi campak efektif untuk mencegah penularan penyakit campak sehingga perlu ditingkatkan cakupannya. Abstract

Rabies is a zoonotic disease caused by the rabies virus and can be fatal if not treated immediately. In Kualin, East Nusa Tenggara, local people have long used traditional medicinal plants to treat rabies. This research aims to explore the types of medicinal plants used by the Kualin community in treating rabies, as well as find out their properties and how to use them. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews and direct observation. The results of the research show that several plants are often used, including soursop (Annona muricata), turmeric (Curcuma longa), ginger (Zingiber officinale), gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica), and tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). This ethnopharmacological knowledge needs to be preserved and developed as part of local wisdom in managing public health. Further research is needed to identify and test the effectiveness of medicinal plants used by the community in treating rabies.

Abstract

Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance, treatment failure, and higher healthcare expenditures are all consequences of inappropriate antibiotic usage, which continues to be a significant public health concern. The goal of the DAGUSIBU (Get, Use, Store, and Dispose of Medicines Properly) campaign is to increase public awareness and encourage sensible medication management. This study described community knowledge regarding the DAGUSIBU program for antibiotic medicines among residents of Penfui Timur Village, Kupang Tengah District, Kupang Regency. A descriptive quantitative study was conducted from March to April 2026 involving 99 respondents selected using cluster sampling. Data were collected using a validated structured questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. Knowledge was classified into good, moderate, and poor categories based on predetermined scoring criteria. Overall knowledge of the DAGUSIBU program and antibiotic use was categorized as moderate, with scores of 66.67% and 69.56%, respectively. The highest score was found in obtaining medicines (74.75%), whereas the lowest was in disposing of medicines (57.37%). Most respondents had a moderate level of knowledge. Community knowledge regarding the DAGUSIBU program was generally moderate. The low score for medicine disposal highlights the need for targeted educational interventions to improve appropriate disposal practices and support rational antibiotic use.
