Abstract

Pneumonia is an infectious disease that causes the biggest death of children worldwide. More than 800,000 children under five die each year from pneumonia. There has been no socialization about pneumonia and PCV immunization for toddler mothers in Uevolo Parigi Moutong Village. Purpose: To socialize pneumonia and PCV immunization to increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers in Euvolo Village, Siniu District, Parigi Moutong Regency. Method: Community service is carried out by providing outreach through health counseling with banners about pneumonia and PCV immunization. The implementation of the activity was carried out at the Posyandu in Uevolo Village, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi Province on September 21 2022. The target of the dedication was 12 mothers of toddlers. Evaluation in the form of pretest and posttest which is measured on the same day. Results: Community service activities begin with a pre test. The opening question found that all of the mothers had never heard of pneumonia and PCV immunization. In the posttest, there was an increase in the knowledge of toddler mothers with an average value of 83. Conclusion: Outreach through health counseling with banners increases the knowledge of mothers of toddlers about pneumonia and PCV immunization. It is recommended that village midwives put up banners for pneumonia and PCV immunization at posyandu and other health services in the village.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penyakit jantung masih menjadi salah satu penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas pada ibu dan anak. Kelurahan Kayumalue Ngapa merupakan daerah dengan masalah hipertensi yang berdampak pada kesehatan jantung. Rendahnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengenali tanda serta gejala dini penyakit jantung menjadi faktor risiko keterlambatan penanganan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat melalui pelatihan deteksi dini penyakit jantung pada ibu dan anak. Metode yang digunakan meliputi edukasi kesehatan, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung dengan pendampingan fasilitator. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama dua hari dengan melibatkan 30 peserta, khususnya ibu usia reproduktif dan kader kesehatan. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test sebanyak 15 pertanyaan serta observasi keterampilan peserta. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, dimana 100% peserta mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan. Peserta mampu mengenali tanda bahaya serta melakukan deteksi dini secara sederhana. Pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat untuk pencegahan dan deteksi dini penyakit jantung secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan.Abstract: Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among mothers and children. Kayumalue Ngapa Village is an area with hypertension problems that affect heart health. Limited community knowledge and skills in recognizing early signs and symptoms of heart disease contribute to delays in treatment. This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge and skills through early detection training of heart disease in mothers and children. The methods included health education, demonstrations, and hands-on practice with facilitator guidance. The program was conducted over two days, involving 30 participants, mainly women of reproductive age and health cadres. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test, as well as observation of participants’ skills. The results showed a significant improvement, with 100% of participants increasing their knowledge and skills. Participants were able to recognize warning signs and perform simple early detection. This training effectively enhanced community capacity for independent and sustainable prevention and early detection of heart disease.
