Abstract

Previous research has underscored the importance of learning strategies and critical thinking. However, the relationship between both constructs toward the enhancement of the students’ speaking skills in EFL context still receives scant attention. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the influence of learning strategies (i.e. Discussion Strategy and Think-Pair-Share Strategy/TPS) mediated by critical thinking on the speaking skill of the Department of English Education students at a private university in Cirebon. The subject of this research consisted of 60 students divided into two classes (N=30 for experimental class and N=30 for control class). This study employed an experimental research design with a 2X2 factorial design. The findings demonstrated that English speaking skill of the students with Discussion Strategy was higher than those with the TPS strategy. Second, the English speaking skill of the students with high critical thinking level was higher than those with low critical thinking level. Third, there was a relationship between learning strategy and critical thinking toward English speaking skill. Fourth, there was no significant difference between the students’ speaking skills with Discussion strategy than those with Think-Pair-Share strategies in the group of students with low critical thinking level. This study concludes with the recommendations for future research to examine the effectiveness of discussion and think-pair-share strategies on enhancing the students’ critical thinking skills to promote their speaking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marketing strategies that affect the success of MSME businesses in Cirebon. The marketing strategy that will be developed is a synthetic rattan marketing strategy which is still not developed in marketing. This condition stems from marketing that still uses offline media as its target market. Researchers will develop marketing strategies with online methods, both through social media such as Instagram, YouTube and e-commerce. The method used in this activity is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects in this study were informants who provided research data through interviews and purposive sampling techniques. Based on the results of qualitative research using interview and observation techniques and the data that the authors have collected, it can be concluded that digital marketing has a very large influence on product marketing because it can increase sales volume and also increase profits for MSME entrepreneurs. Business success can be achieved with the efforts of various parties, both external and internal. One of the external efforts made by the government is to develop the MSME sector in collaboration with academics and MSME business actors.

Abstract

Hygiene and sanitation are crucial aspects in maintaining individual and community health, especially in densely populated environments and urban areas. However, a lack of knowledge about correct hygiene practices and limited access to adequate sanitation facilities are the main obstacles in creating a healthy environment. Street vendors (PKL), as a community group that is vulnerable to hygiene problems, are the focus of attention in efforts to improve the quality of life and overall public health. A Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach was applied, actively involving street vendors in every stage of the program. Outreach and education materials include personal hygiene, safe food handling, and proper use of sanitation facilities. This service was carried out by lecturers at the Prima International Tourism Polytechnic for street vendors in the Sunyaragi sub-district. Through this community service activity, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the knowledge, attitudes and behavior of street vendors regarding hygiene and sanitation. The positive impact of this program is not only limited to improving product quality and consumer confidence, but also contributes to reducing the risk of infectious diseases. This service also highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in overcoming urban cleanliness problems. It is hoped that similar programs in the future will be able to integrate hygiene practices into people's lives, creating a healthier and more productive environment
