Abstract

Household waste management has become a serious challenge for many cities amid population growth and urbanization. Poorly managed waste has the potential to pollute the environment, burden landfills, and decrease the quality of life for communities. This challenge is exacerbated by the low level of waste sorting at the source and illegal dumping. This research develops a system dynamics-based model in the form of a Stock and Flow Diagram (SFD) to analyze the flow of household waste from source to final processing, encompassing community behavior, infrastructure, and intervention policies. The study evaluates two approaches: subsidies for waste processing facilities and strengthening law enforcement against illegal waste disposal. Although the results indicate that law enforcement is more effective in reducing illegal waste, neither approach has succeeded in significantly decreasing the amount of household waste. This shows that existing policies are insufficient to change community behavior. Therefore, a holistic and sustainable approach is needed, including community education, improved accessibility to facilities, and more effective law enforcement to reduce the impact of household waste.

Abstract

The existence of MSMEs has become a support for the recovery of the national economy after Indonesia was hit by a crisis during the pandemic. The role of MSMEs is very large in driving Indonesia's economic activities, both as primary and secondary sources of income. MSMEs in Indonesia have an important contribution as a support for the economy. The main driver of the economy in Indonesia so far has basically been the MSME sector. Apart from playing a role in national economic growth and employment, MSMEs also play a role in the distribution of development results and are a driving force for the growth of national economic activity. The existence of MSMEs is very helpful for people who have no income or who don't have a job (unemployed), where people can open small businesses in their surroundings so that they can earn income, even though this small one is very helpful for their daily needs. To support the survival of SMEs, it is necessary to provide support and facilities for their development, especially among poor families and/or in underdeveloped areas and pockets of poverty. This research is a literature review research that discusses the factors studied in research related to the analysis of the internal and external environment of an industry or business. The object of this research is a research article that identifies internal and external environmental factors in MSMEs/UKM in Indonesia in the year of publication 2016-2023. The process of searching for articles used as literature through the literature review method is a systematic, explicit, reproducible method for identifying, evaluating and synthesizing research works that have been produced by researchers. Every business is always faced with an ever-changing environment. This condition is not possible without an adjustment process to existing internal conditions. The external and internal environment is the key to the survival of MSMEs. This paper discusses the role of the internal and external environment in ensuring the survival of MSMEs.

Abstract

The increase in the number of mountain climbers has an impact on increasing the volume of rubbish along the climbing route which results in damage to the natural scenery on the climbing route, pollution of water sources, and changes in eating behavior patterns in animals. Trash handling on climbing routes has been carried out by providing sanctions for climbers who do not bring rubbish down to several base camps. The process of picking up climbers' rubbish experienced several obstacles, including: picking up dirty rubbish with unhygienic hands, limited water to wash their hands after picking up rubbish, difficulty for climbers picking up rubbish while wearing large bags, and rubbish on the edge of cliffs which endangered climbers. The aim of this research is to design the development of a tracking pole as a trash clamp tool for mountain climbers. The product development design for this research uses product development theory according to Ulrich which is divided into several phases, namely: planning phase, concept development phase, system level design phase, detailed design phase, testing and improvement phase, and product launch phase. This research is limited to the testing phase. The designed tracking pole is a tool that is simple and easy to use, as a stick and also a tool for collecting rubbish when climbers are climbing, a comfortable tool. The designed tracking pole was well received by climbers. This is shown in the panelists' responses after using the tracking pole during technical testing of the tool.
