Abstract

Background: Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a method of student-centered learning. Students contributed a great deal in their own learning process that aims to develop the ability to solve the problem and to help students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. With the implementation of PBL method students are expected to be motivated. Objective: This study aims to determine the application of PBL learning model and learning motivation of students in STIKES Yogyakarta and learning model application PBL relationship with student learning motivation. Method: methods of research using cross sectional approach to sampling is determined by proportional stratified random sampling method. Data were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation. Result: PBL learning model application in good enough category as many as 45 students (63.4%). Motivation of students in the high category as many as 42 students (59.2%). There is a significant correlation between the implementation of PBL learning method with learning motivation of students who demonstrated the value of p = 0.005 less than 0.01 (0.01> 0.005 ). Conclusion: The relationship between the application of PBL learning model with student learning motivation is significant.

Abstract

Background : Indonesia is located within a ring of fire and Yogyakarta is part of the area which has an earth quake potential. In 2006, a big earth quake was happened with impacted a lot of fatality, especially children and elderly. School disaster awareness is a primary key to protect children and young generation for save environtment to study from unexpected disaster. The achievement of disaster awareness in the school is very important because Indonesia is one of the country has high risk in natural disaster. Objective: To find out the readiness of inclution school to face an earthquake and parameters inclution school for an earthquake disaster. Method: The design of the research is cross sectional and the technique of sample collection with 30 respondents by quisioner and interview. Data analysis uses a descriptive analysis. Result: The readiness of teachers and staff within low category are 18 peoples (60%). The low rate of parameter for school inclution shows the readiness of school is still low. Conclution: The implementation of inclution school to face an earthquake is very important at the area with high risk in eartquake disaster. The parameter value in inclution school indicates the readiness is still low with 60% for the teacher and staff.

Abstract

Background: Cancer is a disease with a high mortality rate. The quality of life in children with cancer describes the potential impact of disease or treatment that affects the function or aspects of life seen from the perception of the patient. Factors affecting the quality of life include age, gender, education, occupation, risk behavior, chronic illness, mental disorders, and economic status. Objective : Know how the quality of life of children with cancer and how the relationship of age, gender, and type of cancer to the quality of life of children with cancer in Yogyakarta. Methods: The type of this research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. Sampling technique with the purposive sample while data collection technique with questionnaire sheet. This research was conducted at Yayasan Rumah Bunda with research instrument using PedsQL (Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory). Data analysis using Pearson and Spearman correlation test to assess bivariate relationship. Result: Age of children related to the quality of life of children with cancer. Sex of the child is not related to the quality of life of children with cancer. Types of child cancers are not related to the quality of life of cancer children. Conclusion: The relationship between the child's age, sex, and the type of cancer have a weak relationship to the quality of life in children with cancer.
