Abstract

ABSTRAK Diabetes Mellitus (DM) merupakan kelainan metabolik disertai dengan kadar gula darah berlebih, kondisi hiperglikemia ini bisa diakibatkan oleh kelainan sekresi insulin, kerja insulin atau kedua-duanya. Diabetes dapat mempengaruhi berbagai organ tubuh dan berbagai aspek kesejahteraan kehidupan seseorang. Salah satu upaya pencegahan DM adalah merubah gaya hidup yang tidak sehat. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan derajat kesehatan masyarakat serta melakukan deteksi awal DM pada masyarakat di daerah pesisir Kastela, sehingga membantu menurunkan angka kejadian DM dan mencegah terjadinya komplikasi akibat DM kronik. Metode pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan penyuluhan dilanjutkan dengan pemeriksaan gula darah yang dilaksanakan di masyarakat di daerah pesisir Kastela berjumlah 30 orang. Dari pengabdian ini didapatkan 20 orang dengan kadar gula darah normal dan 10 orang dengan diabetes. Sehingga disimpulkan masih dibutuhkan peningkatan pengetahuan guna mencegah perkembangan penyakit dan komplikasi DM Tipe 2 Kata Kunci : Diabetes Mellitus, Pesisir, Pantai Kastela  ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder accompanied by excess blood sugar levels, this hyperglycemia condition can be caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Diabetes can affect various organs of the body and various aspects of the well-being of a person's life. One of the efforts to prevent DM is to change an unhealthy lifestyle. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and degree of public health as well as carry out early detection of DM in communities in the Kastela coastal area, thereby helping to reduce the incidence of DM and preventing complications due to chronic DM. This service method is carried out by counseling followed by blood sugar checks carried out in the community in the coastal area of Kastela with a total of 30 people. From this service, 20 people with normal blood sugar levels and 10 people with diabetes were found. So it was concluded that there is still a need for increased knowledge to prevent disease development and complications of Type 2 DM Keywords : Diabetic Mellitus, Coast, Kastela Beach

Abstract

hypertension, is a chronic disease. Every day, the number of cases of hypertension in pre-elderly and elderly is increasing, and it can have a variety of consequences, including: reduced quality of life, difficulties in social and physical functioning, and increased pain and mortality due to complications. This study aims to identify the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly and geriatric population in the city of Ternate. This study was a cross-sectional study using univariate and bivariate analyzes, to determine the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of hypertension in pre and elderly individuals. Samples were selected by cluster random sampling technique and using blood pressure checks and questionnaires containing structured questions. This study was conducted in the Ternate Public Health Center (PUSKESMAS) with 299 respondents from pre-elderly and elderly aged ≥45 years old. The research uncovered five factors that with a significant relationship with hypertension. Those factors are age, family history, salt intake, obesity, and dyslipidemia. On the other hand, there are three factors that have no significant relationship with hypertension, which is gender, smoking habits, and alcohol consumption.
