Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of parents in motivating children's learning in Bumirejo Village, Penuguan Strait District, Banyuasin Regency. The subjects of this study were 6 parents who had children and were currently studying at senior high school. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by collecting data through direct interviews with 6 respondents from Bumirejo Village. The results of the study show that parents' sense of awareness to improve or motivate their children to learn is sufficient even though it is only limited to giving attention and financing. Parents of children in Bumirejo Village are more likely to state that financial needs are more important for further education, this is due to family conditions and parents' knowledge that they do not understand the importance of motivating children's learning, and parents also have a different mindset so they assume that their children are already fully grown and independent so that they do not need guidance or supervision from their parents.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the psychological condition of the community through a screening program conducted within a community-based service framework. The screening utilized eight instruments measuring psychological flexibility, academic hope, psychological well-being, DASS, test DAMAI, prosocial self-efficacy, multicultural competence, and career interest. A quantitative descriptive method was applied using percentage, frequency, and mean analyses to map respondents’ psychological characteristics. The findings indicate that career planning interest was the most frequently selected domain, reflecting an increasing awareness of the importance of direction and purpose in personal development. In contrast, low participation in prosocial self-efficacy and multicultural competence assessments highlights the need to strengthen social and cultural literacy to support holistic psychological well-being. The results confirm that community-based screening effectively facilitates early detection of psychological conditions while fostering collective awareness of mental health. This study contributes to the development of counseling programs, educator training, and community interventions that promote psychological literacy. Future studies are recommended to employ larger samples and longitudinal measurements to obtain more comprehensive and sustainable insights into community psychological dynamics

Emotion regulation is an individual's ability to recognise, manage and express emotions adaptively in various life situations. In adolescents, especially high school students in Indonesia, this ability is crucial considering that adolescence is a developmental phase full of emotional and social challenges. This study aims to explore the dynamics of emotion regulation in high school students in Indonesia and identify factors that influence this ability. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a literature study method that reviewed twenty relevant national and international scientific journals. The selection of journals was based on the suitability of the topic, the quality of the methodology, and its contribution to the understanding of emotion regulation in the context of adolescent education. The results showed that emotion regulation in high school students is influenced by intrapersonal factors, family environment, peer relations, and academic pressure. This study specifically highlights emotion regulation strategies such as cognitive reappraisal, impulse control, and achieving emotional balance in the school environment. The novelty of this research lies in the contextual focus on Indonesian students and the emphasis on the importance of preventive and educative approaches in building emotion regulation skills as part of mental readiness for the future.
