Abstract

Lukulo upstream watershed represents a watershed in Karangsambung Geological Nature Preserve, thisbasin is located administratively in Central Java Province with Area is ± 281,394 km2. In rainy season theriver discharge of upstream lukulo steep increase, while in the dry season is very small. The purpose of thisstudy was to analyze the surface hydrology in relation to the flood discharge in the Lukulo upstreamwatershed using remote sensing data. Data of SRTM image was processed DEM hydro-processing in theform of flow determination and network catchment extraction produced 16 units of sub-drainage. Results ofcoeffitient runoff value estimates using Bransby and Williams method is 58% with flood discharge wasestimated using the rational method at 562, 098 m3/second which had difference with the actual flooddischarge at 1, 662 m3. Value of flood discharge in the Lukulo upstream watershed is relatively large andcan cause flooding /overflowing of rivers in the surrounding area.

Abstract

Subdistricts of Kaliwiro - Wonosobo is a region with diverse topography and included in the Karangsambung Geological Nature Reserve. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of socio-community in Karangsambung which influencing the landslides risk. In this study, we analyted every environmental physical factors to give the landslide hazard map. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used as a method to processing landslides maps using Geographic Information System (GIS). The landslides hazard associated with the socio-community and the environment, visible role in reducing the landslides risk. The results obtained that in some places have a high-level of landslide hazard. However, the socio-community is very well in overcoming the impact and mitigation of landslides. Social conditions is very influential on the landslides risk which often occur in the Kaliwiro Sub district. Keywords: GIS, lanslide, menace, vulnerability, capacity, risk.

Abstract

Sandstone unit in the Bulukuning area, Banjarnegara known and even once proposed as the Bulukuning Formation were formerly referred to as the greywacke sandstones as part of the Luk Ulo Melange Complex which is believed as Early Cretaceous-Paleocene in age. The sandstones are lightly metamorphosed and observed in many places to be inclunded in the exotic blocks within the scaly clay which is generally considered as matrix of melange. This study examines the details of lithological characteristics, their provenances and tectonic implications. Undeformed sequences of the Bulukuning Sandstones represented by well bedded sandstones and siltstones. Determinations of fossil species and association of these sandstones yield Paleo-Nummulites and nanno fossil matrices which strongly suggest Middle-Late Eocene (NP15-16). The highly deformed sequence of Bulukuning Sandstones often show block in matrix characters while others develop more boudinage structures as a result of rigid deformation. Analysis of the scaly clay matrix using the illite crystallinity (IC) value suggested that the deformation controlled the formation of scaly clay and boudinage structures occurred at temperatures around 205.916o - 223.014oC (± 30°). The provenance study of the sandstones confirms that these are resulted from recycled orogens related to the Micro-Continent collision of East Java with the southeast margin of the Sundaland during the Late Eocene-Early Oligocene period. The collision was subsequently followed by the exhumation of Karangsambung accretion complex, previously formed volcanic rocks and several Sundanese land blocks.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted various sectors due to a new wave of technology rising shortly, specifically geological learning models. Using research and development methods, the research aims to develop more scientific observations as a provision for pre-field work activities at Geophysical Engineering Department Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. Furthermore, we need a media that can provide learning that can emphasize process skills and students' abilities to determine and understand the objective concepts of material. Virtual outcrop models integrated with video learning platform can fulfil the learning process by providing experience in observations outcrops directly in the class. A three-dimensional (3D) Virtual Outcrop Model (VOMs) was created using the photogrammetry software Agisoft PhotoScan based on photos taken in the field using smartphones and drones. The existence of this media is expected to add direct experience to visualize how geological phenomena occur in nature. The learning activities are divided into four sequential stages: observation, data collection, interpretation, and hypothesis giving. 87% of respondents stated that learning models using VOMs and videos can boost their knowledge of scientific observation. This learning method can help improve academic achievement because it applies technology implementation in theory and practice, providing geological information to us
